The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

i dont know what the hell is wrong with CC ads…sometimes i am getting them placed horizontally which awkwardly shifts the posts to the right into a thin strip with like 3 words in each line…hmmmppfff

No problem with adds here for me…

Shikhar as of your question … it is interesting… but as of what i know that is called proper business and u need legal permit to sell ur software or anything in US… and those means ful time status which u dont have… Inany case having to be employed or even undertaken in any full time job while on F1 visa calls in for disqualification of ur status… and deportation to India… You are not allowed to work while on F1 and well the stuff on softfwares u poointed out is pure work… in its truest sense…

SM

as of US citizens not liking the idea of internationals … all i have to say is who cares…

one proper look at the situation would reveal the truth that lies not even deep within…

International students as already known allover contribute to 2 big things that are required for a highly acclaimed university:

Diversity

Dollars and Cash Inflow…

While the university cash out millions to get this diversity they get much more in return as loyal alumni from throughout the world who pay back almost double what they have had from the university…so where in the world is that affecting Us intake anyways…

Moreover the international students kinda are the major source of money for any country or university and finaid admissions are close to nill if seen from overall perspective… so well in a way even after not paying any taxes or stuff … we end up being a greater contributor to the university’s financial status than the domestic students themselves…

Some ppl turn a blind eye to this fact and also the unofficial quota and cap to international students at each university… and to them each intel admitted is equivalent to a domestic rejected… U cant really help those ppl … and their views… there aren’t any just justifications to favor any arguments or validate their claims any day…

SM

(please ignore)

who else appiled to cmu??? anybody else get their decisions??? who still hasnt got the desicion???

welll sachit… . many have got decisions as seems . but no rejections have been recieved frm CMU so far . so i guess for all those who r yet to hear like sum of my friends… its a NO NO

SM

Well Vampiro, I would like to point something to u regarding ur converstaion with Merc:

Sabeer Bhatia was most probably on an H1B VISA or some other type of working VISA since he made his creation Hotmail.com when he was working for companies like Apple and Fireworks. He didnt make Hotmail as a student at Stanford.

Google people were US Citizens so work-time limit wasnt applicable for them.

“Moreover the international students kinda are the major source of money for any country or university and finaid admissions are close to nill if seen from overall perspective… so well in a way even after not paying any taxes or stuff … we end up being a greater contributor to the university’s financial status than the domestic students themselves…”

Absolutly untrue. The major source of funds of American universities are research, alumni donations, endowments, and return from investments.
Even if all students have free tuition that would represent about $240M per year. MIT receives four times that only in endowments each year.

wait i think i got sum confusion with that …
i meant that compared to what domestics pay… intl funds serve a major source…
I didnt mean in absolute sense… and if seen it is really intels bringing in dollars and funds which do matter…

SM

your son is not guaranteed admission wherever he wants it even IF youve paid tax

yeah I mean we pay tax…and we aren’t guaranteed a particular college too in India…its almost the same story everywhere

theres no way MIT or any other univ in america gets a BILLION dollars in endowments EVERY YEAR. do you realise how rich MIT would be if they kept getting a billion dollars a year?@!!

RANG DE BASANTI!!!

the song khalbalee just kicks %$# as does the whole movie.
