The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

!!! ARE U SERIOUS???

dude…u have screwed up idea of the Indian job market

ALL US companies realize that labour in India’s BETTER and mor QUALITATIVE, but CHEAPER

US Prez said himself Indians are better at Science an Marth…

US Prez said himself Indians are better at Science an Math…hehe exactly … and didnt u get his stright message… we need ppl to sit back to do thee maths jobs for us… we are moving to big time entrepreneurship and running the world… so better remain as arjun and giv us cheap straight labour and since ud lack personality i can ask u to remain as that for yrs… wonderful…

SM

dude…if u didn’t realize we’re tryin to reach Page 300 quicly and efficiently

exactly SM…dont you get it Arjun …its not abt being the best brainy guy out there…its abt getting control and being the leader of global economies what we are looking to achieve…and with this attitude we might just be servants to other developed nations.

And what would that achieve?

Anyway, Gotta hit the sack.

vampiro,
r u intin that IITians r servants?
NOWAY!!!

they r the LEADERS!!! bec they’ve got the BRAINS!!!
and when they get a decent MBA? Economist degree…they get the PR… its very simple

now they have Brains+PR… ehich is why they drive the US as if the US were their father’s property

dude u dont really know anything abt the US…do you…
One walk down silicon valley…,or boston technology highway will lift all your dreams

ok conclusions of todays discussion:

1) IITs good…but develops a very very brainy person who lacks EQ, which is why he remains a hired labourer…but when he goes to IIM, he becomes a corporate honcho

2) US is good too…but they develop the IQ and EQ togather…not in phases.

exactly so now end of discussion is it…can we sleep now…in any case i am going…

sure… good night

I am going to bed too… Sleep well

so u’ve been lurking on this discussion acceptance…:)

is anyone feeling sleepy…i’m not…i’m high on adrenaline after that

anyone game for a new discussion :D

Cant believe i missed the entire alcohol discussion… Maybe not being sober for the first weekend of spring break had someting to do with it…

About the IIT discussion… Whoever said that personality doesnt matter, or intelligence is the be all and end all sounds pretty ■■■■■■■■… If you dont have people skills you’re going to be employed by someone who does at best case… worst case you stay unemployed… And you dont learn these people skills by going to IIM… You learn them through experience…

Go to an american state school and you’d probably learn more than you would in IIT…

^thats so untrue dude…

however IIT teaches they seem to get the job done… maybe its on the sheer weight of the brilliance of the ppl who get in… i dunno… but anyone who claims that the IITs are useless is fooling himself.

of course life skills are important, too.

Arjun u never seem to understand…why do people get ****ed off wherever you post? Really, if peope get annoyed and start hating you ONLINE, what are the going to think of you in real life? Willl you pass your job interview after you graduate from cornell? All you will have is a puffed up ego, sad attitude, maybe a good GPA, and a “you came to my house and kicked my dog” accent to show.

If you think that intelligence completely outweighs personality, well I can guarantee you that you aint the next einstein. And even einstein is said to have had a cool and amicable personality.

I feel really sad that you are going to badnaam the desi community wherever you go ASP.

I feel even worse that you share a part of my name.

Phew…enough of my ranting…maybe i overreacted - maybe its cuz I have 3 weeks of AP econ to submit in a few hours, and im ****ed at that…but whatever it is, ASP’s gotta change his attitude if he wants to survive outside his little hole.

None of the IIT graduates can get a top notch job anywhere in us when they are still fresh from the college. They usually do their post-grad and then they get a good job. But, I dont know if you considered this but in the two years doing their postgrads when they are getting the ‘wordly knowledge’, the MIT, Stanford, Ivy league grads usually start making a lot of money and start moving up the ladder. The two years of post-grad has such a huge opportunity cost!
The deal is that, when i am talking to a prospective employer, i cant talk about math or physics, thats not gonna impress him, they are tons of people who can do that. Now, if i know bartending or film-making or some other skill, thats gonna make me an interesting person, and thus increase my chances of getting recruited.
so, i would totally disagree with your previous statement where you said “Undergrad is for academics”, according to me, undergrad is for harnessing your skills and have a lot of fun!

IIM A ranks somewhere in the 400s in the world’s top 500 unis.
So, for MBA, if someone has a choice between Harvard, LSE, MIT-Sloan, Chicago and IIM, i’ll be extremely surprised if he chooses IIM!

And about the Narayan Murthy thing, his son didn’t get into IIT and then he went to Cornell right?
Well, the deal is that Murthy was a trustee of Cornell or something when his son got into Cornell, I wont be surprised if Murthy’s position in the Cornell board had some influence on his son getting into Cornell. And that make his statements where he says “My son is going to Cornell since he couldn’t get into IIT” very hypocritic!

dude, you need to be stop being soo full of yourself and india for that matter.
If you do decide to come to the us, and not go to iit, you’ll realise how smart everyone here is, trust me, they can kick you a s s in academics any day!! you need to stop making all the generalizations where indians are smart and americans are dumb!! NOT TRUE!!

And IIM the best b-school in the world!!! Are you kidding me, you need to read more, (and thats required even if you are an engineer!!)
