The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

ASP, I think u have gone MAD. IITs have a much better infrastructure than BITS Pilani. Go there and see for yourself.
JEE was made to for IIT. IIT hasnt been made for JEE!!!
Even top IIT Grads worldwide (ever heard of Vinod Khosla???) have many times called for the change in JEE pattern. They say that JEE isnt fair to students who are really “creative”.

Look Arjun, when you are considering the student body, I am willing to stretch a point and say that IIT would edge it over MIT for pure studies-oriented students. But there is one point everybody is forgetting- THE FACULTY. Every Ivy League college boasts of 6-7 Nobel laureates in their ranks… and the IIT faculty is average/below average and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compared to MIT. Therein lies the difference. By the way, how many Nobel laureates has IIT produced? Zilch. MIT? We need to check up. That is because IIT students are, most of them, aiming to go to IIM and get a management degree. And that is why, IMO, IIT is a failed institution. It is supposed to be producing top engineers and even top scientists (those who take Physics anyway)- instead it is producing merceneries who end up working in a multinational to make a big buck.

ok ronty…uve lost it…
IIT is so famous not because its got a cool campus or because its got a $22.5 billion endowment…its because of the brain power.
TRhe brain-power is because of the JEE.

and ur statement of BITS campus being worse is SOOO STUPID!!!
BITS has a much better infrastructure and campus than IIT

OMG!!! Gautum Have u been sleeping till now? i explaind a 1000 times why IITs don’t have nobel-laureates.

i praise the quality of education imparted in IIT…you are saying that if there’ll be no JEE there’ll be no IIT??..do u think the education imparted in IIT is crappy??..i am more focussed on the monotonous problem solving regimen IIT prospects have to follow…and the fact thar JEE is the toughest exam does give IITians a lot of repuation but there are better ways of testing ones’ knowledge…

**I think we have gone way beyond any possible barriers to conventional debating and ethical methods… people here have been loosing that conscience and thus been a little off the online social sense of peer respect…i thus call for an end to the IIT debate and with the majority on agreement dont feel the need to put forth the conclusion…

No more points are to be made and reiteration has started which only contrbutes to further aggression and loss of morality…I guess the decisions day is tooooo near for us to be engaged in such going-to-be -offensive stuff which has already targetted states, races, persons, qualities, universities…

I can at best tell this that had it been a general open thread , this wud have been enough to garner a hostile warning … but i choose not to discuss any such actions here…

so calling off the IITvs REst of the world debate… though all who havent contributed their views for the same are still welcome to add their contributions… oldies requested to stay calm…

SMARTMIND**

Arjun, why dont u ever goto BITS Pilani??? or ask a person who has visited both the places? U seem to be a person who has no “WORLD” knowledge. I think u r very much biased. U never listen to people! Do u know about BITS Connect??? It was setup 7-8 yrs later, after IIT Kgp had it.

“ok ronty…uve lost it…”
U have lost ur mind… I dont blame u… People do get mad… Goto Agra/Ranchi/ or if u r going to Cornell this fall, then goto California for mental check up. :p

dude…what i’m saying is that IITs #1 because of the JEE!!!

The JEE ensures that the most aciduous students enter…not some crappy moron down the street…which is IIT’s strengh: producing hardworking ans smart kids

its THE most brilliant filter/ exam ive seen in my life
weeps at how beautiful the JEE is

ronty…BITS has better infrastructure…dude ask someone who KNOWS abt it…ur STUPID assumptions are so idiotic…
dude…ive been preparing for these 2 places for the last 3yrs…i KNOW!!!..

“its THE most brilliant filter/ exam ive seen in my life”
U arent smarter than people like Vinod Khosla! So keep ur ideologies to urself only. There are many crappy morons at IIT too… U live in ur own world.
As SM said, bring this topic to end. Some people will never allow their brain cells to accept the truth.

have u even looked at the JEE ronty…bec i’m sure u havn’t…
and since u were always for the US…u never prepared for JEE…
so u OBVIOUSLY know NOTHING about the JEE!!!
Then why comment???

“U arent smarter than people like Vinod Khosla”

u keep sayin that bec he’s the only guy’s name u know who doesn’t like the JEE…pro’lly bec he didn’t get a good rank himself…
Heard of Narayan Murthy or Nandan Nilekani???
Heard

Arjun can you now stop…

SM

hey, dexter brought it up!!!

anyways,… off for the weirdo topic which is getting no longer anywhere…

dont attack anyone personally … what benefit… anyways… so what r all of you doing to get your minds off the decision till tomorrow

SM

Why, only u are smart enough to prepare for JEE??? I am preparing for CBSE PMT. 1600 seats for more than 5 lakh students who write it… Now dont do poo in ur pants!!!

US Univs were never my priority. Had it been, I would have applied to low-bow US colleges too!!!

“u keep sayin that bec he’s the only guy’s name u know who doesn’t like the JEE…pro’lly bec he didn’t get a good rank himself…
Heard of Narayan Murthy or Nandan Nilekani???
Heard”
Yes, I have heard about them. I know a lot about them. Do u know from where did Narayan Murthy complete his BE???

MIT students are truely multicultural ,multi racial apart from their brilliance.IIT’s in my view and from what I have heard ( I may be wrong) by default has admitted one sect of the country.( no derogatory meant here pl.-)It is a well known fact that over 90 % of the professors and teaching community there represent this group.
I mean no insult to the system or to the profs there. But how can a fresh IIT admit not belonginging to this sect evolve without a bias .
This is one of the areas I feel IIT lags behind MIT.
My elder brother had a classmate who was kind of below average.Failed his ramaiah entrance which my br.got thro. His father was HOD in IIT.
My br. used to mention that he got into ramiah classes later inspite of failing his entrance. He had also unashamedly boasted of clearing the screening and mains using his fathers influence. My br.used to tell me that in ramiah he had never got ranked above 110 during the 2 years.
In screening he was 18,000 ish. In the mains he was ranked less than AIR <500. DADDYS INFLUENCE AND REACH he boasted. How many such students get thro every year is anybodys guess!!!
Will this be posiible in MIT. May be .

Having said this I do not mean to take away the credit of all admitted students.Guys no doubt they are amoung the cream of the country .
what I heard from my br. could have been just one instance- but with right connections it is still possible to beat the JEE.

a nice new perspective a light to the topic that was…

SM

1) Yes…Mysore University…
did u also know that he was admitted to the IIT for UGs tooo…by idolsut couldn’t afford it
dude i know my idols well

Yes I know… but didnt u get my point?? IITs isnt the ONLY breeding ground for Engineers in India.

ruships…please…ur post made me laugh so much…i choked on my dinner

u think dean of MIT’s son won’t be automatically admitted even if he is a ■■■■■!!!
and IIT allows NO development tags…which is why Roshan MUrthy, Narayan’s son was rejected by IIT
Janhavi, Nandan Nilekani’s daughter, too could not clear IIT and so she’s now planning on US…
In the US MIT would have accepted these people ponly as development tage
IIT- no…Only brains gets u in (un less ur dad’s a HOD, which happens EVERYWHERE)

arjun u r going to cornell right??..lets hear you after 4 years…
