The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

Rishabh - by any chance is your surname Saxena?

Did any of you guys apply to any Canadian universities? And do you have any idea about their reputation in the US?

I ask coz I got accepted to Queens University, which is good ( in Canada atleast) and am quite hopeful of getting into the University of Toronto. It’ll have to be Canada for me if IIT doesn’t work out.

Thanks for the consolations everybody. I guess I’m already over it. Solving those bull**** FIITJEE sample papers would make anybody forget everyhing else. :)

did you apply to Waterloo?? its excellent according to what i’ve heard…

Callthecops2: Yahoo ID is unforgivencarleon… and yours?

has any1 got in waterloo this yr for engineering??

Anyone got positive P’Ton then?

well i havent even recieved the letter from pton yet…

MM Rishabh’s surname is in fact saxena

I sincerely believe that many of you here were more than enough qualified to have been accepted at the competitive schools.
But is this doesn’t mean that this the end of your abroad dreams.
There are still many more places which are VERY good.
For instance there’s IUB…which is VERY good.
Its in asscoiation with Rice univ. And their IVRound starts July1

here’s the link: http://www.iu-bremen.de/admission/undergraduate/information/

hey guys what is this crap which the univs write about conditional admissions ( some crap about final transcript)…i mean they dont expect you to like meet the 90’s or something right…infact i should say they really dont care abt what marks you get till its decent (like above 70% guessing from some kids who were taken in in the past year and got those marks) Just curious…

btw sid are you getting any aid at these canadian universities.

By the way… any possibility in applying for the Spring session?

seems like we’re gonna be having 2 dozen indian freshmen next year at IUB! that’s great!

applying for the spring session where…as in which country?

Well, when I was applying to P’Ton I noticed they had options… Fall '06, Spring '07, Fall '07… so I was just wondering what that meant.

gautam, my yahoo is svgviking

i found out this frm the IUB link…written in the undergraduate admission s form (pdf):
Please note that students from outside the European
Union should complete their applications for
admission in Rounds I, II, and III. For these students,
the requirements for acquiring a student visa in
Germany make it virtually impossible to matriculate
at IUB if an admission decision is not made prior
to 1 July.

we cant apply to IUB now… i read that too…

Yeah, I applied to Waterloo. Even I’ve heard that it’s excellent for engineering. But, I havent got a decision as yet. Still waiting…

Vampiro, I’ve been accepted only at Queens and they havent given me an entrance scholarship but they say that if I accept their offer of admission, I can apply for a need-based non-repayable bursary. For subsequent years in college, scholarships are determined by the academic performance in that year.

well canadian Univs arent taken in that high reputattion in the US for in US there are already gud ones present… but as of industrial scene the canadian univ do have a high esteem but provided u r in the top 5 … of em…

As of IUB yes they do highly discourage international applicants from applying in the round 4 which ends at july 1 (not starts as pointed by some…)

I havent got my pton letter yet and so i presume nothing… but i hope to get decision today…(note- i didnt call coz i wasnt at my house…)

SM

hey sid… how optimistic are you abt IIT… I mean well rate your own chances at IITjee this yr based upon ur self appriasal of performance and knowledge
