for the visa interview do our passports need to be valid for 6 months beyond the date of entry or 6 months beyond the intended stay period.? Various sites have conflicting info on this

well… ill come online in the night …shikhar ok…

As of united world colleges , its a story that was long discussed for viability and also worth last yr and illl just get u the materials discusssed soon…

For visa … well it is ADVISED to have ur visa expiry date 6 months beyond ur expected period of study though there is no official statement on this… and there is no rule… but the preffered method is to get it renewwed now for tthe next 10 yrs or so on request frm the passport ofice in view of the study abroad program…

However in case ur passport does expire in the middle of the program ull have a lot of trouble renewing it from US and would have to come down to India to do it…

and nice joke biaxident… (i still find MM much better )

where is rishab , prachi, taj, Sachit, havaldar, OG and al those guys…

nope your passport has to be submitted to the Indian Embassy in the US and it gets renewed there…I know this coz my uncle got his renewed…
Also lots of people’s passport will get expired just upon entry…especially those who are like 17 right now (me being one)…and will turn 18 and will get a permanent passport then…

true shikhar we are allowed to renew our passports at the indian embassy there but most of the time the prob aint the renewal but the documents needed there which is a hassle considering most of it wud be here in india.

Another thng is abt the pasport for children aged 15-18 who are still minors. This age group is still elligible to get a 10 yr permanent passport now( different from that what happened few yrs b4) and they can get thru the normal verification and all proceedure after paying the fees for full 10 yr permamnent passport… But since most of us have passports were made few yrs ago so they expire for a minor as in 5 yrs and thus immediate renewal is needed. In any case if the passprt is expiring within the next 1 yr , u are elligible to get it renewed by normal process. BUt in other cases u have to make a special request addressed to the Regional Passport officer and forward your renewal to him…

you had sumthing to ask shikhar ???i am online on yahoo now…

Those $#^()@#! gave me a 5 year passport even though i paid 10 yr fee, applied for 10 year passport and submitted all docs as 18+ independent citizen. AND they left my surname blank and changed my first name to first name + surname.

If it is possible, I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to get passport renewed somewhere OTHER than in India.

Why? I’m still the same guy! Something in the name? ;)

you are the same but the problem is the username… the earlier one was so much cooler…

merc that interesting , well in my case they goofed up the photo and the date of birth which legally made me 18 yrs this january . And that was after all my documents verfying the actualy birthday in september… on correction they tok another freggin 1 month to only giv the same passport back with no photo change and DOB correction some pages after…

im here SM!

its just that there isnt any interesting discussion going on…

yeah TiT is kinda boring nowdays…so sachit finally heading to cornell??..

“Why? I’m still the same guy! Something in the name?”
Yeah…well pardon the expression…but it gives certain odd ideas about your existence…:p

hi…i checked with my uncle in the states today…he told me that when his passport got expired he just gave it to the high commision. in DC and they (u can go either in person or send by mail) renew it and then send it back to you in a week…And i am going to check on that 18 year old rule, exactly…
But the jist of the thing is…that below 18 people are given a minor’s passport…it doesn’t really matter whether you have 10 year or 5 yr validity…once you turn 18 u’ll have to change that passport…like i have about 4years still left for the date of expiry…but as i will turn 18 this october my passport will automatically become expired and i will be issued a new passport…

hey i dont know if any of u guys (apart from sachit) like consoles…but did u check Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3…its ****in unbelievable…Man Xbox 360 will definitely be an outdated technology once PS3 hits stands in November
