Call me naive, but I just cannot fanthom what prompts people to take up drugs…

Hey seriously now, any method to remove the stupid adware.

Any cryptography enthusiasts here

:D this ad on the side, which is screwing up the screen, is from “ad-stream: online advertisement management” - am i the only 1, who finds this funny?? perfect example, why a dot com should NOT use this co. :stuck_out_tongue:
(n this post will be deleted)

ft - about drugs, i think its not different than trading anything else…follows the normal economics rule…if there is a demand for something, you’ll find (smart, hungry, ambitious, desperate) ppl to supply it. as far as rich/poor, most of the drug trading profits go to the pockets of the big bosses, who are already rich. did you guys read the article in TOI about the same stuff today? http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1159316.cms

anyone wants to IM.Just post right now…specially u adides.

Hey the ad’s gone.yesss!!

most people do drugs cos their just plain bored or “everyone’s doing it”…

and to me atleast, its a case of the poor exploiting the rich. this does not fall under the premise of general economic prinicples. because once one is addicted (the consumer) the consumer does not have the choice nor does he/she have the power to make rational decisions about the purchase (from the supplier). in any economic projection it is generally assumed that the buyer (consumer) has the advantage in choosing the product, which is not the case in a peddlar selling to a junkie.

iv been trying to think of more examples of the poor exploiting the rich… but cant come up with any(apart from begging, which isnt a transaction anyways.)

anyone?

hey vampiro - IM not working right now. sorry!

ft - i see your point. I think it’d depend a lot on who initiated the transaction. If a peddlar offered free sample(s) to a prospective junkie, then yeah - u can say that the peddlar is exploiting the junkie. But, if a friend introduces another friend to coke and gives him contact info of his dealer, i dont see how you can blame the dealer for exploitation (unless you go to a 3rd degree of contact)
also, IMO addiction does not necessarily transpire into exploitation, because if that was the case a lot of what we define as ‘needs’ (clothing, coffee, food, softdrink, cigs, tv, refrigerator, electricity, internet etc.) that can fall under addicted category would be exploitation
so my opinion - if the buyer is the bigger fool (for doing it because of boredom or followin the crowd), the seller will sell it coz that is what is expected and is not exploitation per se
as i mentioned before, afaik a lot of ppl involved in drug peddling business arent what you would define as “poors”

as for examples of poor exploiting the rich - maybe something unrelated but food for thought - african countries getting highest per capita aid, but not doing anything to improve their economy/std. of living. Having AA after 400+ years of US independence, quotas after 57 years of independence, etc. etc. which might not have monetary cost but a higher social cost

anybody ever read 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis De Sade?

Ill wager a million e-bucks that nobody can finish it without vomiting atleast once:p

120 Days of Sodom? I’ve never heard of that…and it seems like that’s a good thing.

I still say people buy and sell drugs out of desperation; it really has very little do with exploitation. People buy because they’re desperate for either something to do, a way to fit in or a way to wash away troubles. People sell drugs because they’re >that< desperate for money.

Come to think of it, if what adides says about most of the money going to the big bosses is true (I have zero clue if it is or not), then said big bosses are either so consumed by riches that they’re desperate for more money and would lead a network of drug dealers because they have no other way of getting any, or they’re simply using their position as the rich to exploit the poor peddlars who need something to live off of.

There probably aren’t too many examples of poor exploiting the rich, because the poor simply don’t have as much opportunity. This may also be unrelated but: prior to the American Civil War, slaves on plantations would work slowly and haphazardly as a form of passive protest against their masters. The masters would simply assume the slaves were lazy and thus lose out on the fullest potential they could produce.

ooh…
yay! the annoying ad-stream ad is GONE!

hmmmm … actually its the big drug barons who employ the peddlars. so they face no direct risk from the police, but reap the profits… so technically its the rich exploiting the poor all ver again… ahhhhhhhh… the balace of capitalism has been restored atlast!!!

ok abduke, im takin u up on the challenge. ill get the book today.

Why on earth would anyone want to read anything by that freak
