RSI shows innovation, intelligence, scientific aptitude and inventive thinking - something which I’m sure a lot of people will agree that the SAT doesn’t do!
In a nutshell, RSI counts for a lot. That said, I believe one RSI kid here was rejected by Harvard. Since he was accepted by both Stanford and MIT though, it probably doesn’t count, right? :p</p>

It does count a lot. what i mean is that colleges will know of the chances the student has… and like harvard may reject the applicant in case the other parts of application fall back.I but dont expect that to happen. What i said was a sort of humorous anticipation even with negligible probability. Well if destiny holds true. we are to face a tough challenge in college admission for those kids. … </p>

<p>Whatevr it is i am sure that if one can demonstrate supreme ability and gr8 stats, he sure will be fillin the admission seats in colleges . even mit and princeton admit 5 students.,… who knows we may be the remaining lucky three…</p>
<p>And one must know that each year there are a set of exceptional students who just devastate ur chances.but u can do nothing abt that…

No, it’s true. Around 85-90 intl students enroll at MIT each year, while around 110-120 get admitted. Last year, 114 were admitted, and </p>

<p>Now for RSI - don’t worry/bother. Of course these are bright kids and will end up getting admitted to 4 or 5 top colleges if they apply to 6. But the overall number is low… around 50-70 worldwide. There are still loooots of places left at many greaaatt schools. So dont fret over some tens of students taking up “all the spots.”</p>
<p>Also, do your best on the application - you already did your best with your life. Recently, some people were asking about competitions or extra-curriculars which they can participate in to make them a stronger candidate. At this point in time, it doesn’t make sense. Work on presenting yourself on the application, instead. Think of it from the adcom’s viewpoint - if you were in his/her shoes, would you admit yourself? Also, from my experience, adcoms like simple, no-nonsense, straightforward applications. Don’t try too hard to be different.</p>

Yeah Merc is right…every year there always will be few kids like this…but the thing is that people still do get selected at top colleges…
Basically, the adcomms might like u better than them…coz after all it all comes down to reviewing one’s application in one’s context…(my point is that since last year I did not even know about RSI…due to lack of info in my school and many students still dont know about it so its not that big a deal) we still have a chance. although RSI on our resume would have been better.</p>
