he’s in symbi

dexter87…well…i am going through the same problem as u r…i don’t have that good a SAT score…however my recos and secondary school report will be strong……and ECs ain’t bad either…so just run through ur college package…and yeah there’re essays …and they(colleges) do definitely consider that…and alumni factor is there…so there’s no need to feel down…umm…maybe ur good in sports…so the college might be interested in that…now about the transfer thing…well…while u transfer from one to other…the other college might not give u the same aid as ur current college…and the problem of adaptation…if things r working gr8 in the current college…why transfer???..

guys form my list of colleges there are some which dont give any aid to internationa students and which are like really expensive like Michigan AA, Illinois, Cornell etc…so is it a good idea to not to apply to those colleges altogether?? i mean i wont be able to pay for them even if i get thru…

another thing was how is Wisconsin Madison for international students??..do they give out any aid??..its engineering rakings are pretty good…

…well…engineering…well…why not apply to colleges that gives aid on engineering…Michigan AA, Illinois, Cornell…donot give proper ED aid…cornell…it gives decent RD aid…for that u must be an “A” student
look for engineering colleges…that offer good aid…umm…i would suggest…union college (NY)…gettysburg…check out in the finaid 2004-2005 form…that will be easier for u…

regarding UW-Madison, they actually suggested i apply to other colleges if i needed aid!

cant believe my eyes that they said this. how rude …

tht’s not rude… i thought they were being helpful!! not many colleges would take the time to suggest other colleges that I might be interested in since their college is out of the question due to the aid issue.

Well… They have told in the mail that u might look for smaller colleges that might give aid…the fact remains that are unwillingly to accept that many top notch places do give aid…

Can any1 send me the Practice SAT I test of CollegeBoard?
My email address is ronty007@rediffmail.com

it is already there on collegeboard’s website

I know… but my computer is getting an error while loading it

smartmind that’s not rude, that IS helpful. Public institutions don’t have money to spend on International financial aid - atleast they’re being honest about it.

hey…got any idea about the financial aid offered by tufts university for ED plan…hit me…

May be i felt it that way…whatevr the point is since they dont give aid…so no use talkin abt it as i am anyways not goin to apply to a place where there is no aid’

No offence Guys

:)

Hey ronty, official transcript means anything that is from the school with a school seal and signed (or on a letterhead).
And Smartmind I am sending a grade report from class 9-12(mid year).
I have grades their and converted them from the grade chart that is available at USEFi,Delhi.
If you cannot go there I’ll tell u the conversion
Indian Boards Grade

Actually the grading system is most helpful to the colleges as it tells them exactly your level in any sort of marking system without them having to go thru a lot of explanation(like the rigorous marking and crap explanations)

ppl tell me one thing, is Yale and Columbia good for engineering??..i have got a lot of BAD reviews about it…everyone of my friends gone to US has told me that their Engineering department is really f**ked up and they keep losing in all the inter college competitions…how far is it true??

No.

Harvard ain’t any good either, but you can take classes at MIT so who cares.

yale and columbia… is definetely better at some engineering programs …atleast better than all 20+ ranked places… that is gud enough i feel…
