ok now ppl tell me one thing… i hav a colleague who shares the same schools (initial till 10 and present) with me . He is going to apply to few US schools without a grade transcript… while i will do so with a graded one… so what will be teh colleges response…

will they compare us and try to find why transcripts are diff… or will they take it as diff applicants who are not compared directly…
Or will they not mind whether the student gives a graded report or a huge Numerical one…

Just send in your normal board exam marksheet. If your school internal grades are good, send that as well. For most of the well known schools, you dont have to worry about grading and converting yourself. Indian students apply to these places by the truckloads and the adcoms have a really good idea of what is what about intl grading schemes, esp CBSE/ISC in India. They will know that although you say 75+ is A, it is only average (or even below average, considering the kind of competition there is). You cannot fool the adcoms into thinking otherwise [yes they are clever and I tell from experience :p].

And dont forget to harass CollegeBoard… its a 2 min drive I think?
BTW Hello how ya been man? I had to run that day so couldnt reply, and ms.net WILL be up… some…day…

astrix: bro, loving symbi, huh? good to know you still frequent the blog.

someone asked how us ‘seniors’ [aw] are doing at college… I’ll tell you about IUB - it doesnt feel like germany at all… feels just like some small elite american private university [embarassed to say that :o]. classes, facilities [labs esp] are awesome, profs are cool [except ONE], and atmosphere is super social (sorry such, princeton doesnt even come close :p). Housing is probably better than the best american univ: and considering that my flatmate left for UChicago, I have a whole two-room apartment to myself. :D

BUT BUT BUT - for anyone thinking of applying to IUB - the workload is crushing me and everyone else who opted for Elec.Engg./CS major. And indeed every other major. It’s a whole 4 year course compressed into three years so you better know what you will be putting yourself through before coming to IUB… my friend here didnt sleep from Sunday morning to Tuesday night… I did, because I didnt complete the assignments on time :D

hey merc, good to see you are back.
Look actually the conversion I was talking abt the internal results.(remember for the boards the board follow their own grading system i.e. 90+=A,75+=b and so on). And actually my school itself feels that with respect to internal marking the 75+=A is justified(considering that the school topper has abt 80% in 11th…and he was the all india ICSE topper with 98.2 % aggregate). but still this might be just the case at my school you all should also consider this matter yourself and see whether your school is rigorous enough.(as for a standard and applications being compared I dont have to worry for that as my school issues grade reports to all applicants).
