yeah, but adides applied to all ivies last year and got into princeton.

and there are plenty who get into more than 2 ivies …
If all were to stay the same…how does one get accepted at even one …may be they decide on which ones will

LOL yeah that would explain why I never see you - I only go to the sign in clubs :p

apply to all ivies and you’ll get rejected everywhere…that’s the weirdest rumour i’ve heard in the admission process (sheesh…do u guys really think that in the pressured admission season the colleges will find time to compare every damn applicant).and yeah I know abt quite a few guys who got into like 3-4 ivies. + there was this guy on this very thread from MWC or whatever who had a fight with us desi’s about some drug thingy and he too got into 5 ivies.

Absolutely… they cant even think of that … do they remeber each one …

hey everyone, how’s it goin =)
anyone applyin to mit this year?

he he, yea we had a hot discussion there, yea he got into 5 ivies incl pton, went to upenn.

Must’ve been high on drugs…
(ok next time i’ll keep my mouth shut).

you do make sense. but it could be taken in another way too.

if they already KNOW that you have applied to other ivies then they would have a setting amongst themselves as to who would take the students. in that case the chances of a student being accepted become more secure i think.

do i make sense now ?

yeah i am … but people around me keep telling me chances are real slim.
im gna be asking for fin aid , so i think that screws my chances totally right ? even thought hey say theyre need blind . or are they ???

…okey 1 more question for all u ppl here…

I know the importance of class 10 board results for us indians but i would like to get some insights into this…

say for instance what is the minimum they expect of an applicant in the class 10 board …if he applies to HYPM…

Like say a students gets a 86-88% in the class 10…can he be rejected for his poor performace in class 10 as that is the most important exam they consider for us indians…

Also seniors …u must know even well… how do they look at these percentages…like what were ur class 10 % and did that pose any threat…

rishab"so i think that screws my chances totally right ? even thought hey say theyre need blind . or are they ???"
they sooo arnt need blind… thats bull
smartmind they see the trend too of your marks…like all 4 yrs n they will like u if uve got that 88% all 4 yrs or have improved

How can that be.coz here we all know school marks are always way lower than ones at Boards

I had 88.2% and it posed a threat because I was rejected at most places on account of academic performance. It was because even though I had excellent grades in other subjects, I consistently had low marks in Math. They look at your marks very closely and not just the overall %age.

mercurysquad…i just did not get what u said… coz then tell me… if u dont score bad on any one subject …then what…

what if ur performance was not bad in maths… but still aggregate 88%…

And also like do u think that an 88% could have been the only reason why u were rejected…

And u said u were rejected at most places owing to bad acdemic performance.well how do u know that…

Also did the same thing was evident with ur school marks also.i mean were they not gud or something…

I have excelent school records… and also 88% CBSE converted percentage… so how does it affect me

indian boards are considered tougher, ive heard so. anything upward of 85 is considered very good.

all i can say is that they see the %ages in the last four years ie. 9th 10th 11th 12th. the most important being the 10th and the 12th terminals . 12th terminals - because these r gonna be the last exams you take before applying. so they reflect your level most accurately. thats why ive been slogging real hard to get a good %age.

88% in cbse is quite good id say. cbse is tougher than icse. i got a 96% in icse … an 88% in cbse would convert to roughly around 92% icse or thereabouts, i think …

academic performance is quite a major part in college admissions … one of the most important if not the most important criteria.

prachi
i know they arent need blind. but it says so on most of the ivy websites. just a hoax i guess. i wonder why there isnt an uproar about all this.

people shudve been up in arms by now … when you declare ur need blind you ought to be just that!

ppl…i think u have to get some straight answers…

There are only 5 need blind schools for international …

The others who declare so …explicitly state that they are need blind in their admission decision for US citizens not international

The five schools are:
H =Harvard
Y = yale
P =Princeton
M= Mit
W=Williams

No others…and these are really need blind coz all ppl who went there went will empty hands (almost)

And well if they do see ur school percentages also…do they see it and understand why its low… coz obviously a 75% at some schools equally translates to a 85+% in CBSE …so how wud they know a gud applicants.
here as per as what i know they judge on the basis of class rank
