<p>Hah. My parents still think I should be a good girl and go to medical school. Which I really do not want to do. (Unfortunately, Mum’s a CMC Vellore graduate, and Dad’s an AIIMS graduate, so I have double the pressure.) </p>
<p>My parents didn’t care where I applied – just as long as need-based aid was available. (Which is a long shot, but eh.)</p>
<p>My father’s an AIIMS graduate too, (JIPMER, AIIMS & PGIMER), but he’s been very supportive of me doing whatever I’m interested in.</p>
<p>Medical school = cadavers. Blech :/</p>

<p>Edit: My parents are supportive, too, but they don’t want me to go across the world, since I’m an only child, spoilt rotten (according to them, anyway), I’ve never been independent, I’ll get lonely, I’m too young and irresponsible. yadda yadda. They don’t mind me studying whatever I want, they just want me to stay in India. Which I absolutely don’t want to do.</p>
<p>Its done now, so don’t worry, now 'tis just a bit of a wait. (a friend of mine with slightly lesser SAT scores, about the same grades, got into Macalester and I think Swarthmore, so there’s a good chance you’ll be accepted to the LACs you’re applying to.)</p>

<p>My parents forced me into Biology despite the fact that I’m rather good at and interested in computer science, and have no interest in medical school, so I think that more or less says it all as far as they’re concerned. I love them dearly, but they don’t quite understand my motivations, I think – they don’t get why any self-respecting girl would want to study maths, or why I dislike their profession so intensely, or anything. Aack. </p>
<p>I’m wishing I’d been sensible and set my sights a little lower. I have no chance anywhere I’ve applied, they’re all super-competitive.</p>

<p>My Princeton interview is sometime next week, I have to call and confirm. The interesting thing is that both my Harvard and Princeton interviewers are lawyers. And I have wanted to be a lawyer ever since I was born. Makes for some interesting talking. :D</p>

kriti: UCs do hav fin.aid for int’l students???..I hav visited their site and they clearly state(just like CMU,PennState,GIT,etc.) that they dont provide fin.aid to int’l students…</p>

<p>Oh, and my school refuses to give me a midyear grade report because I didn’t attend two of the exams (my SAT was rescheduled to fall right between them). Four of the nine colleges that need it are okay with that, one insists on it, and four haven’t responded to my email. I was under the impression I didn’t have to send any marks, but obviously I was mistaken :<.</p>

<p>Ask your school to send your Pre-Board marks. If not, then send your incomplete Half-yealy’s and back them up with your Quarterly results.</p>

<p>They wanted a photocopy of my 10th CBSE marksheet but they never told me that. Anyway, I had those grades and marks on my transcript and it was clearly mentioned that those were the CBSE Grade 10 scores. When I told them that, they said they didn’t understand my transcript, which is very weird because they accepted 2 people from my school who happened to have sent the same type of transcripts that I did in addition to that particular piece of black-and-white paper that I sent in a bit late.</p>
<p>They said they will reconsider - but that I musn’t get my hopes high. lol
They were just my safety that now even if I get accepted to - I won’t go. :)</p>
<p>If you’re bandying the Devil’s number about, I will not listen to you saying they hate me :P. Maybe it’s just because I live in a town where no one is applying to American universities, and no one to colleges like Princeton, anyway :). Or maybe they hate me :<.</p>

<p>I didn’t have Quarterly exams. My school doesn’t give a **** about CBSE, all it cares about it IIT / AIEEE. And my Pre-Boards haven’t started yet.</p>

<p>anyway, you can probably send in your midyear after your pre-boards. the deadline for most colleges is around march 1st.</p>
