<p>is anyone here giving/taking (i remember the fight) the AP exams?</p>
<p>I’m taking about 6 of them this May (As you’ve probably figured out by now, Shrivats and I are just a little mad :D). AP Lang, Lit, Physics C, Bio, Chem, Calc BC. Should be a fun May for us.</p>
<p>@fuzzy: I’m in IIT prep because after 10th, I was absolutely sure I wanted to do astrophysics or nuclear physics or something like that, and I didn’t know anything about IIT except the view that most people have (“it’s the best!”). After I abandoned social science, and English (well, how much do you think they emphasise English in in an IIT prep school? And what kind of teachers do you think we have?), I realised I actually liked those subjects, I like both the sciences and the humanities. I absolutely love English, and things like psychology, philosophy, religion (I’m an atheist, but studying religion would be fun) fascinate me. Thus the LACs. Now, I’m writing IIT only for my parents, even if I get IIT rank 1 (which is highly unlikely :P), I’m not going.</p>

<p>I can definitely empathize with your thoughts on English, philosophy etc. Regardless of which college I’m accepted to, and the terribly intensive engineering course I’m pretty sure I’m going to take, I’m definitely going to be doing a lot of courses in the humanities. In fact that, along with double majoring is probably one of the primary reasons why I’m applying to the colleges I’m applying to in the first place.</p>
<p>(Bit long-winded, that last sentence, wasn’t it? ;))</p>
<p>Hurrah for atheism. (I’m one myself, which is slightly amusing considering the militant religiousness of my extended Brahmin family.) </p>
<p>I have no intention of attending IIT either, even if I get in (which I might, at some low rank – not to sound conceited, but I can handle maths and physics, to some extent). </p>
<p>And as far as English, etc. are concerned – I’ve toyed with the idea of taking them in college (especially philosophy and creative writing classes), but I doubt that I will; I simply won’t have time, what with the crazy math/comp sci double major I want to do. I’m fond of literature, and write for pleasure, but if it came to a toss-up between math and poetry, math would win.</p>
<p>Ah well for me the toss up’s between engineering and international relations or public policy. I’ll probably double major in both of these, of course everything’s in a state of constant flux so I’ll probably end up changing my mind a good deal over these next four years.</p>

<p>so, everyone here is double majoring. i was thinking about co-terming(in 5 years you get a master’s and bachelor’s) in EE and CS. I just can’t handle humanities classes. They used to be my strong suit but IIT prep has kinda sucked it out of me.</p>
<p>'bout the APs, I’m taking Chem, Calc BC, CS AB, Phys:E&M. I’m not as crazy as the twins. ;)</p>
<p>I can’t really spare the money for the APs, sadly. Most of the places I’ve applied to have placement exams, actually, so I’ll probably try and take those if I do get in.</p>
<p>I’m primarily taking them to be able to double major more easily; I hope to gain a few intro credits… I’m actually going to see whether I get into colleges that have schemes for Internationals to give prequalification exams, if they do, then I’ll take them instead of the APs.</p>

<p>@Babu: Why do people think that science is anti-religion/God. Atheism has nothing to do with science. Science has got nothing to do with religion. Period.</p>
<p>Religion is farce and so is our definition of God. There might exist a God? Maybe. Does it matter? No. I see absolutely no rationalism in religion or God.</p>
<p>I can go on endlessly, but I believe the debate is futile because it serves no purpose. I’ll stop now.</p>
