The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Oh! So the TiTers are out to dissect the origins of theology… I see no point in this nitpicking… If a certain concept works for you, all the best, go for it. If it doesn’t work, relax and wallow in rationalism… debate over this serves no purpose… there are bigger conundrums out there…

You’re right. Live and let live - stop preaching.

Avoiding all useful content, let me just say that Richard Dawkins is fabulous. (Interestingly, I only heard of him after Googling his wife (Lalla Ward), who was on Doctor Who. Strange.)

Interesting thread here, have a look…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=300991</a></p>

It really depends on what you mean by “our definition of god”; if you are referring to your own definition of god, rejecting it seems quite silly. You yourself framed the definition and you yourself are rejecting it? That simply means that you framed the definition in such a way that it was meant to be rejected. If you are considering your friends’ definition of god, maybe your friends’ definition of god is incorrect, that does not mean that all definitions of god are a farce.

Assuming that you are Hindu, I advise you to try to carefully understand Hindu definitions of God as per the Vedas and Upanishads and you will find that the definitions offered here are very different from what your friends think of god.

Also, to say that the existence of god does not matter is simply being ignorant. Why does it not matter? Is this question not of supreme importance in the history of man and civilizations? Is it not one of the ultimate metaphysical/physical answers regarding our world?
Going by your way of reasoning there are very few things that matter. Does it matter what exists outside our solar system? Why are we trying so desperately to discover other star systems in our galaxy? Why are we trying so desperately to find other galaxies in our universe? Do you say that none of this matters?

Oh God (pun unintended)…

If there’s one way to wreck a thread, it’s a (fill in the blank here) AA/Religion/Duke LAX discussion. What say you we all just ignore the past page of posts, and to quote Lakshya Live and Let Live? (Though of course to Live and Let Die should always remain an option :))

Seriously though, why don’t we all just get back to psyching each other up, making angst ridden posts, and just venting a bit? (lot more fun that way)

Oh and before I forget: 51 posts today! (so far that is, so to the denizens of TiT: Don’t you dare post till tomorrow :))

I just couldn’t resist :D, we’ve got quite an Abbot & Costello routine going here…

And whose definition is that?

I don’t see being a follower of another faith affecting a person’s right to being an Indian.

Stop. It’s taking all I have in me to not rebutt most of what has been said.

Listen to Shrivats(You should, have you seen his stats :D) and forget the religion debate.

Much the same for me here; reminds me of the entire Islam debate that cropped up a while back. I suppose “don’t feed the ■■■■■■” will have to be used. :)

You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist. - Friedrich Nietzsche.

See, no point in discussing further. And I must stop posting and get back to studying or go to sleep. I like sleeping.

Certainly raised the level of posts there, Lakshya! (Not that I agree with some of what Nietzsche had to say…)

Really?

The more I read Nietzsche the more I tend to agree with him. I absolutely loved Thus Spoke Zarathustra. But that could also be because the book echo’s my views.

I haven’t read Nietzsche. Ahh, when will the ****ing exams be over so I can go do some serious reading?

Yeah, me too :<. I shall refrain, however.

Where’s everyone?

I’m at home. I don’t know about the rest.

Late EDiting on TiT Syndrome (LED-TiTs)… LOL

Good abbreviation? chip in with your views. and no LED-TiTs plz, or if it’s obsessive-compulsive thing then go on.

It’s already been named, it’s the Shrivats Syndrome. Sorry :<.

As for Shrivats Syndrome Part 2, I don’t think there will be many posts for him to count today. Apparently everyone’s realised that the Boards are coming!

Nah. We just need something interesting(Controversial) to talk about.
