k_twin: yikes. If you got rejected, I am fabulously screwed. (Kriti, could I have some of that emo music? ;))

aritct: 2 mbps, really? Ye gods, now I want to move…

aritct: 2 mbps, really? Ye gods, now I want to move…

Ah well I applied for Financial Aid to Stanford (easily the most expensive place I applied to), so that was pretty much that.

(Not the emo thing again! (we’re going to have to come up with something else)) :D

So did I. resolutely persists in emo

I could call it ‘angst’ if you prefer? At least that gives off rather fewer ‘surly teenager with bad haircut’ vibes. Or ‘melancholy’, which I imagine is emo for the posh and upper-class. ;)

@ Noldo – yeah. Everyone who takes and one of the non-unlimited broadband plans gets speeds up to 2 Mbps (2 mega-bits / second = 250 KBps dl speed).

But during the day, you get dl speed of anywhere between 30-100 KBps. It starts speeding up only at night (less users online) :)

30-100 kbps would cause my head to explode with joy, really.

But sadly, I can’t live without my unlimited Internet. I download…well, an awful lot, and non-unlimited would be impractical.

well I have a 10 GB dl limit per month.
And BSNL offers night unlimited (between 0200-0800 hours) for all users.

So I DL around say 30-35 GB a month.

(NO, I don’t stay awake from 0200-0800, I just know how to use windows task scheduler :D)

Today’s going to be a record breaking day in CC post terms, already well over 100 posts. (I keep count, I know, it’s weird :))

So,

Congrats: bas007 (this is not a license to post :P)
Noldo: This is a license to speak in Latin.
isaac: As ever…
Oh and me. :)

Commendable mentions: Lakshya, k_twin, aritct.

And of course, everybody else…

yikes! it’s rather pricey isn’t it? Rs.3300 per month?

@aritct: what can you possibly download that’s 30GB?

The limit is on usage. Say for example I watch a movie on youtube, I’m downloading. It doesn’t necessarily have to be stored on your computer for it to count towards the limit.

I could easily clock about 50GB a month. :D

If I had those speeds - I would pull my hair out. I was at my friend’s place the other day and he had Dial-up. All I wanted to do was check my email - It was slow, very, very slow.

yeah, i’m aware of that Lakshya. I saw the first 15 episodes of Heroes on dailymotion and i barely crossed 2 gigs.

Wow! you guys post a lot. Btw my Penn interview was fabulous.

I’m probably about the 20 GB a month mark myself. Dial-up? I still can’t get that terrible ringing sound out of my head. :D

Great to hear it Gildor. And well, today’s unique. :)

I have 256 Kpbs. And im regretting that I updated to Unlimited. 2mbps would have been awesome

I posted the post re: Gildor after seeing Gildor post, and after the post about 20 GB. There’s something weird going on here. Have we posted too quickly for CC or something. (Of course this could also mean that I’m a time traveler or clairvoyant, but somehow, that’s a bit unlikely :))

@ fuzzy – no its Rs. 1800 a month (512 KBps connection)

and I DL lots of stuff, mainly Anime+Manga.

This month, I downloaded GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka), Spongebob :D, Hajime no Ippo, Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles, Bleach (post-filler arc), some Boxing matches( including Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns World Welterweight Championship 1981), etc. etc.

and yes, I know this sounds like gibberish to most of you.
I usually have no problem hitting 30GB since each High Quality Anime episode is 200-300 MB…
The bad things is, thanks to boards+ applications I never had the time to watch most of what I downloaded during the past 6 months.
So that’s around 100 GB of unwatched stuff lying around in my DVD case.

I saw the first three seasons of Battlestar Gallactica on Dailymotion, I downloaded about 15 GB.

Yes, I saw all those episodes in a span of 3 weeks. I’m not a freak if that’s what you’re thinking. I happen to like BSG. A lot.

Shrivats:I thought it was weird too. And i actually went back into the last page to see if I had posted anything there to which you might have replied.

We really need to make a chat room… :D

Ah BSG. I started that as well. Saw about 1.5 seasons, and then gave up. I’m a more Star trek person when it comes to Sci-Fi actually. It just got a bit too ‘perpetually on the edge’ for me. (if that’s not blasphemous :))
