Oh it doesnt? It’s quite good, cause I was getting worried, what with the MPAA cracking down on BT users in the US

i think you mean the RIAA. the MPAA regulates movie rights. you can’t be tracked if you use DC++ though.

on a related note, check this out: http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/22/riaa-lists-top-25-universities-handing-out-piracy-notices/

yeah RIAA, but I heard DC++ was being banned/closed down in most universities by the MPAA/RIAA?

Nice link. :D

Yeah dda. I’ll most likely be going to Michigan unless I fluke it into Berkeley :)

sweet bro! I will probably going to Wisconsin-Madison, but Michighan still remains an option for me.

What school did you get accepted into? I’m into LAS doing Pre-Business,hopefully with a view to getting into Ross School of Business.

thx for the link fuzzy

University of Wisconsin at Madison - 513
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor - 400

not looking good, so far…

Congrats Inshallah (Appropriate user name, by the way :))

Chem went well, surprisingly enough. We got Zinc, Barium, Acetate, Nitrate, Benzoic Acid and Glucose. All pretty basic (pun unintended)

Oh and EA applications? One word: Deferred.

(Harvard SCEA, still holding out foolish hope for RD round though)

hmm… I have a question…
If a letter which states that the Admissions Officers have enjoyed reading your application isn’t “likely” letter then what is?

(I mean why would they accept you unless they like your app. And if they like your app and send you a letter/e-mail STATING that, isn’t that what a likely letter is?)

I got into the college of engineering.

PS. What were those numbers about Michigan and Wisconsin?

I dont know about the likely letter but I had a smiliar experince with UIUC. When I called up admissions office about confusion about my file, the adcom told me that my credentials were excellent.

I dont know why, but I guess this got my hopes up and as you all know I got rejected from UIUC.

So, this letter could mean they like her, but unless theres an official letter of acceptance, I woudnt take it as a sureshot accept.

@insallah - those were the amount of people in each uni getting busted for copyright infirngement. aka usage of limewire, Bitorrent to download copyrighted files.

References from the piracy link.

Aritct (I keep writing Arctic :)): A likely letter follows a specific format, and normally says that you are likely to be accepted in the RD round if your Mid Year Report is up to scratch. It’s normally given primarily to Athletes, but can also be given to others the University particularly wants (the much talked about Bassoon Player example and the like).

ahh…but do colleges send likely letters to intl students?

I see no reason why they wouldn’t.

Yeah, and as the Oberlin forum says, lots of people got these emails, only the adofficers said they liked the applicants’ essays.

fuzzy posted his Columbia likely letter yesterday I think, that’s what I likely letter looks like.

Congrats inshallah!

Um… I hate Board exams.

P.S. : Could I have the IM addresses of people that I don’t already have? Please?

Random questions at everyone (maybe it’ll start conversation):

how tall are you?

what is your favourite word? (as in the Princeton app)

what is your favourite movie line (what did you put in there? nothing fit!)

what did you write in your 50 word Yale essay?

which revision are you in for your Boards?

Answers:

I’m 5’7.5". (And female, yes.)

‘Paraphernalia’, or possibly ‘antediluvian’. I used the former on my Princeton app (and I actually have a [list of words](http://www.wordie.org/people/Noldo) wot I love, hah!).

I used a line from ‘Withnail and I’ – “We were, indeed, drifting into the arena of the unwell.” Which sounds crazy, but I love that film and its intelligent scripting.

I didn’t apply to Yale.

Finished Physics, halfway through Chem, don’t ask about Bio, I never study for Maths.

Also, this is fascinating: apparently, CC’s server is adept at doing odd complex (as in square root of minus one, and not ‘difficult’) algebra on response times and coming up with *intriguing/i answers:

How does that work? amused

Answers

Honestly, can’t remember, the last time I measured my height was around 8 months ago - something like in between 5’6’’ and 5’8’'

Picayune (that’s what I put on the Princeton app); I’d go with a mix of schadenfreude or ephemeral now.

“Even the wise cannot see all ends”, which was primarily because Shrivats had already taken “People should not be afraid of their Governments, Governments should be afraid of their people”

I used a 50 word essay talking about why I wanted to go to Yale.

15th revision? (or is it the 20th) I tend to do and redo subjects over and over again, 'tis an affliction, or so I’m assured by all my friends.

@Noldo; you’d have double clicked on the link; that doubles/triples the time; or maybe the server’s just feeling cranky.
