The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Ah :D. One of my interviews was with a Moderator on CC. (for Cornell) That was quite fun, as he was (as you’d expect from CC) extremely connected to the current admissions scene. :D

Off to interview. Yikes.

@dda
I applied to the College of Letters, Science and Arts.
What about you?

Hey

I went to an Oberlin chat for international applicants yesterday, it was a lot of fun, plus the admissions officer who emailed me the other day (who’s an Indian with an extremely un-Indian name) private messaged me saying “Kriti, I’m so glad you could make it!” and talked to me for a long time. :D. I also found out a few interesting facts about Oberlin (Wikipedia says they have a “relaxed attitude to nudity”, so I asked someone about that, and they said “ahahahha. only in the spring!” ^^. She also mentioned that the woman’s cross country team likes to run naked ^^ {do I hear Arit declaring Oberlin his first choice? (Triple parantheses!)))

Apart from um… things like that, I asked a lot of “normal” questions, and talked to a professor and stuff. Am I the only one whose pretty much memorised what Wikipedia says about the colleges I applied to? Doesn’t EVERYONE Wikipedia colleges? I knew Lucy Stone (first woman to keep her own last name after marriage) went to Oberlin, and the politics professor didn’t even know who Lucy Stone was. (By the way, Millikan of the oil drop experiment also went to Oberlin). Maybe I’m researching things too much. Would you consider Wikipedia, official college sites, SparkCollege, The Princeton Review, Collegeboard, College Pro wler, College Confidential, ■■■■■■■■■ and of course Google too many sites?

If you’re still reading this, I congratulate you!

Good luck with the interview Noldo, even though you’ve gone.

Yes(10 Char)

Nah, you’re about normal. I’d add US News, but that’s a given I suppose. :D

Me is off to my interview as well. :)

@Kriti: Oberlin has become my top choice too! Too bad I didn’t apply. :D

Don’t worry, MIT and Yale can beat Oberlin anytime.

MIT and Yale don’t do that.

See, MIT and Yale can beat Oberlin anytime. Too sad Barbara has graduate from yale or i would have applied there.

Now HOW could I have missed that!
(Oh yeah you also forgot to mention what happens in the co-ed bathrooms xD)

MIT and Yale’s Wikipedia entries don’t mention a “relazed attitude towards nudity”. Apart from the woman’s cross country team, there’s another women’s team that likes to run naked (I forgot which one), plus tons of streakers and a generally um… relaxed attitude towards nudity?

MIT and Yale may have nudity, but they don’t beat Oberlin :).

Hamilton and Williams (which I’ve also applied to) have official streak teams, FYI.

Um… why did I start this topic, anyway?

EDIT: Arit, you missed that because I was talking to her on PM. I had a long convo with her about nudity at Oberlin. The coed bathrooms are at Vassar. And what happens in them was entirely our overactive imagination. At Oberlin, you vote for whether you want coed bathrooms.

Heh, the conversation me and Arit had yesterday was fun. I’m aware that “me and Arit” is wrong usage, but whatever.

Obie chauvinist

Hi evryone!!
Just been off for a while…
so, lets keep an update of the admissions…
Currently it is-
Lakshya - UIUC, Purdue
dda- UMich, UW-Madison
…(Update it)…

Lakshya - UIUC, Purdue
dda- UMich, UW-Madison
Fuzzylogic: Stanford, Columbia (Likely)
Kriti: Oberlin (Close to, close to likely, well something at least :))

And that’s all I know of…

@ Kriti – lol I was joking, but wouldn’t it be fun if something did happen though~~

hey, it seems the conversation is heading towards a slippery slope… Adcoms must be watching

Argh! I need to study but i am not able to concentrate.

Just back from Princeton interview. I ballsed it.

Well, not really, but the interviewer was somewhat less than enthusiastic about my age (I was informed that students of my age almost definitely wouldn’t be able to cope. Er, that’s comforting!) and my science-geek-ness, though I rescued the latter situation by talking about philosophy and my love for literature. Interviewer was nice enough, though not really ‘my’ sort of person (international relations grad, as I mentioned), and the conversation was a little starved of actual substance. (Unlike my MIT interview, which was a thing of beauty.)

Overall, went off about as I predicted – dull/neutral. Much in keeping with my personal opinion of my Princeton chances – I’m not the sort of student they’re looking for. (MIT and Caltech are much better fits for me, attitude-wise, but no chance of me getting in.)

What is your age???
