I wished I had applied to Cornell.

Best of luck to everybody for their examinations. :D:D:D:D:D

Cornell is an OK school , you would be suprised at the number of people who pick UIUC or UMich over Cornell.

Good luck everyone! 16 days, damn thats fast! I am pretty sure once you guys start getting ur admission decisions then boards will become easier :stuck_out_tongue: !

Why are you all studying?
Never heard of Seniorities?
I am suffering from it since Xth:)

Cornell is NOT an “OK” school… It is, at the least, definitely better than UIUC or UMich- especially for engineering… After all, it is an ivy! If you value rankings- Cornell is being placed consistently in the top 15 National Universities by USNews…

I wouldn’t cancel out the possibility that a couple of people picked UIUC or UMich over Cornell… probably due to location or class size requirements!

I think your entire argument is “after all its an ivy”.

Check out the rankings for both Umich and UIUC for engineering , both UIUC and Umich are in top 5 or 10 for most programs , which kinda beats out Cornell’s top 15.

The only clarification I would like to make is I meant in terms of an engineering program, not as an overall school name.

At the end of the day you will look at job value getting a degree from an engineering school and both UIUC and Umich grads are considered equals to Cornell.

In conclusion , the fact that I have to pay around 10-15k more for an Ivy Tag doesnt really serve a purpose considering I get an equality of opportunity both in terms of education and market value. Hence other than OMG IVY LEAGUE! Cornell doesnt have much to show.

They’re Here!

And I’m off… (for English Language that is)

May all of your creative juices flow!

2 and a half hours till the board exams and I’m still browsing CC.
And I don’t plan on leaving till 1 PM…
shows how dedicated and determined I am lol

i’ve still got 5 more days. :D

can someone please explain apparent depth to me for Physics? What makes an item seem like its closer, looking straight down from a low dense medium to a high dense medium or looking from the side?

I am so confused

@pinku2002:

yeah… that could sum up my whole argument. From my point of view- it is more selective than UIUC/UMich (you say yourself in one previous post that we can pay ourselves into these univs) so the student pool must obviously be more competitive at Cornell. I know for sure that Cornell is particularly selective in the case of international students and engineering applicants.

Lol. I wouldn’t look at “job value” at the end of the day. I would want to spend my four years having fun, learning new things and challenging myself (lol, that is so cinematic). Even if I did consider “job value”, I am unsure of your claim that engineering applicants from UIUC and UMich are considered equals to Cornell.

There definitely is a difference between “some university ranked top in that one program” and an ivy league… Your stance is quite obviously biased because you are a student of UIUC.

Physics down. Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Informatics Practices to go, followed by IIT(JEE), VITEEE, AIEEE, EAMCET, MAHE and BITSAT. Woo?

I didn’t really do all that well, I forgot to revise the Davisson-Germer experiment,m and it turned up. That was the ONLY thing I hadn’t read properly. (We weren’t taught it at school - we weren’t taught a lot of things at school. Dumb IIT prep institutes. Dumb being a vastly polite adjective, of course.) Three marks gone.

Well, whatever.

Now, I go prepare for the Princeton interview and Chemistry.

(Shrivats: I’m sorry I got so panicky over the interview and reduced you to triteness :P, but I don’t want to mess my interview up. ^_^)

I don’t have anything more to say :).

He may be eloquent but I find him a bit smug and condescending. He argues by trivializing people and he doesn’t seem very personable.

^^ I agree

TheOneCurlyFry: Physics down. Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Informatics Practices to go, followed by IIT(JEE), VITEEE, AIEEE, EAMCET, MAHE and BITSAT. Woo?

Well, in my case it’s “Physics down. Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Informatics Practices to go, followed by IIT(JEE)”

@psacepirate - I dont think there is much of a difference whether you graduate from Cornell or UIUC for eng. UIUC is a specialised school, while it may not compete with Cornell in terms of arts, it kicks it ass in eng.

And as for the college experince, you said it yourself, you are after the ivy tag, a tag is fast becoming worn out in todays competitve world. It’s more of what you do in college rather than which college you are from. Furthermore, as for the college experince, its widely touted that the “Public Ivies” such as UIUC and UMich are much much better!

Chem, English, Bio, Math, and JEE to go for me. I liked the Physics paper, thought it was surprisingly easy (though I ballsed up an easy question. Don’t ask me which, I’m not going to tell you. It’s just embarassing.). Will get >95 hopefully, although I don’t know how much.

And personally, I’m pretty meh as far as the Ivies are concerned – all hail the awesome of tech schools! I’m not exactly Ivy material.

Noldo, Curly… which set did u get? I got Set 1

oops I just hit 150

and there goes 3300, 3299 doesn’t look good
