If you don’t get accepted to the ones that you applied for aid to and get accepted by the ones that you didn’t - what’re you going to do?

I realise the question is a bit too personal and you can totally ignore it if you wish to and accept my apologies.

Thanks kriti didi ;)

badman89, ‘EFC’ doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Mine would be $0, and yet here I am using a MacBook Pro. :stuck_out_tongue: Parental income doesn’t really translate all that well between countries, due to varying costs of living, and so an income of ~$40,000, while being pretty low by American standards (and low enough to warrant a ‘calculated’ EFC of 0 as per most finaid calculators), would be pretty comfortable in, say, India.

Shrivats – The colleges I care about aren’t on March 29, actually. But I’ll read Cornell’s and then Princeton’s, because I like to alphabetise. Though both are v. likely to reject me – Princeton 'cos my app sucked anyway, Cornell 'cos it isn’t need-blind and I am positively destitute.

If you family’s income is under 50,000$ yours EFC-as calculated by colleges- is zero. But a modest person i am, i wrote 100$.

Then I’ll go right ahead and do just that. Seriously though, it’s a complicated involved answer that’s very peculiar to my financial circumstances…

Hooray for responses! (As for what I’d do, the question will probably be moot. I’ll click on each college as it comes… (Now that’s a post killing statement :D)

All I can say is, thank God I didn’t use a Gmail account on my applications. Now that would be horrible, no hovering over the link at all, the decision’s already out in the little preview tabs!

Most of you here are brilliant and even if(a mighty if) you get rejected by your dream college(s) don’t be too hard on yourselves. Life’s just started and I’m sure you’ll all do really well in whatever you choose to do.

With that I take your leave, Chem beckons. :)

And of course the Cost of Living as Noldo pointed out’s very dependent upon place of residence. (Although I’ll be benefited if (as is being planned), the UAE readjusts its peg with the dollar :))

Anyone else found that the cost of a soft drink’s a pretty good estimation of the cost of living? :D

Ah, well I have Physical Chem notes online (thanks to a tech savvy teacher  ), so I’m reading them with CC open on a tab. (industrious studying, I know :D)

I did use a Gmail account, so I guess I lose the element of choice.

i used a gmail account too and I am now figuring out if I can redirect my mails to Yahoo from Gmail…

Economist uses $3 Big Mac as a benchmark in place of soft-drinks:D

as I had warned u earlier 3500 approaches now… so either u get it or I’ll rush there

And I’ll hit 200 as well

No not 200, that’s too far ahead. Argh

Decision time looms… it’s tough keeping off thoughts abt admissions, adcoms, matches, the essays I wrote et al

Oh and the Shrivats —> Kaushik ----> Shrivats game of musical chairs continues… :D

I’m a Gmail account again…

Though as I remember from EA (:(), you can’t really see the decision on the main screen, you still have to click individual schools’ mails

MIT tells u to do wat u wrote in the first short q to beat the stress, but it’s @^@&#^@&# board exam time… I’ve got to mug up rxns i hate that… and I can’t do wat I love doin coz of that

wat do u all do???

music… thou cheereth me up in the gloom-d’anticipation (awful, I know)

I can’t remember frankly. I think it was Debating, which sounds weird, boring and all the rest of it, but is in all actuality true. (As I think Lakshya can testify to some degree :P)
