The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

I agree with you two on the grammar thing, I seem to have an intuitive grasp of it, although I talk pretty disjointedly occasionally.

Colleges. Decisions. PARANOIA!

I got an email from Oberlin from the guy in charge of international admissions (in charge = in charge. He has a Ph. D. >.<) saying he was looking at the finances of people “still under active consideration” and asking why couldn’t I pay more than I said on the forms, given my circumstances.

Basically, I’m still under active consideration. Woo!

Most of my ECs are literary as well (!!), but I had enough math/science stuff to scrape something together. And well, I’m madly in love with Caltech. :stuck_out_tongue: (Also, writing the extra essays was a) fun and b) useful, since I used one of them for another college as well. Plus, I got to show off my graphic design! :D)

Shrivats Syndrome 5 – Cheshire-catting? (Just don’t be Schrodinger’s, please.)

I’m going mad about decisions, because I’ve applied to tough enough places that being rejected everywhere is sort of likely. Hoping the essays will tip it.

My one beef with Schroedinger is the umlaut. It just doesn’t seem right without the two dots on the o, and CC doesn’t support diacritical marks. :(

I suppose I’ll settle for oe, though I hate diaeresis normally.

P.S: Am I the only person who harbours likes and dislikes for parts of the alphabet? :D

Good news Kriti, great to hear. (That they’re considering you seriously and all…)

Pity the diacritical marks don’t show. I mean, I can type them and everything! woe

I have opinions on the alphabet. Mostly, I hate ‘F’.

If that sort of email had come to me…I would hav been jumpin by now…
Ya…I will agree with shri here…I hate that CC dont support all types of letters…

I like weird symbols that are part of Old English. The thorn and the like…

(But I guess that’s just an outgrowth of my fascination for Greek symbols. :))

I think this qualifies for one of those discussions by now, doesn’t it? :D

Shrivats, have you read Beowulf? (And if you have – there’s a movie coming out. And it’s being written by Neil Gaiman, who is really awesome, and starring Angelina Jolie as a monster, which is just surreal. :D)

I’ve read it, well I’ve tried to read it. :p

I’ve definitely read the Wiki article, I’ve seen the old movie based on it (Thirteen Men or some such). :)

Surreal? Yes, quite. :D

I’ve not read anything new for the past month actually, not been able to get anything to read. (Why do I sense a book buying spree hanging in abeyance here :))

But then I re-read books with a vengeance. (I’ve read every book I possess about 40 times :D)

And I just noticed that shri’s post count exceeded Kaushik’s…wooh…

ya, it is surreal…

Angelina Jolie. Grendel’s mother. Does not compute. ;)

I trust Neil Gaiman, though, so the movie will probably be dead cool.

:D:D:D

Fraternal comeuppance here, isn’t it?

I’ve been staging a rearguard action here for quite a while, finally bearing fruit. (Though hopefully in a more sensible way than Bas’s. :p)

My sights are on Lakshya next though. :D

hehe…I can ‘‘cee’’ that…indeed u hav been quite sensible…(unlike, I was in the beginning and perhaps still am…:p)…

Fraternal feelings be damned! The youngling shall not pass! :D

How is 487>773? Or am I missing something here?

v r talkin bout post count on TiT#15 alone…

ya…youngling shall not pass…;)…but sooner or later oldies hav to giv up…:(…

Well in hyperbolic geometry it just might well be :D, but we’re talking about posts in this thread. (the only one that counts! :))

Okay… so The Twin Wars have crossed the boundaries of just fighting over who gets the computer?

I just got an email informing me about Berkeley’s incoming freshman summer classes…

…does everyone get that?

MORE PARANOIA - DARE NOT HOPE.

kriti: It sounds as if u r in the mailing list of UCB…
