The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

ya…I went off too…
Neway, I m annoyd by all this WC cheers for India…they r simply exaggarating…

and this is my 600th post on TiT…!!!..

No thanks, I’ll stick to manual refreshes. :)

P.S.: There’s already an option on firefox to do that, isn’t there?

I’d want one for the 29th, Lakshya, but I’d have nothing to do with my hands and I’d go mad.

I shall be departing soon.

I still can’t believe I got into Oberlin :D

I was just wondering…whether all these ‘‘Download managers’’ really speed up the download?..if yes, HOW??..

So, what’s your top choice Kriti? (Besides Oberlin)

And I cant ‘‘refresh’’ page here…coz evry time I do that, I will hav to login…

@issac: Well, in short, they don’t.

issac, download managers usually segment the download (viz. download simultaneously from two or three different loci in the file). Plus, they’re an advantage when you’re doing huge downloads – even if the download breaks, you can (usually) resume.

I’ve been toying with the idea of a refresh script (:D), but I’m not going to use it. Manual refreshing is more fun anyway. (Plus, my hands, like Kriti’s, need stuff to do.)

DAMN IT MIT RELEASE THE DECISIONS ALREADY.

Ah we’ve got a full complement now… :)

Well, I know that they segment them…but this does not increases speed as they predicate…

I don’t know why they don’t just put them all up, as soon as they make their decisions.

Irritating

@issac: It wouldn’t. Ultimately it depends on your connection speed. If that’s not fast enough. There’s nothing much you can do.

Colgate, Vassar, Hamilton. Amherst and Williams too, but I don’t have a chance of getting in.

Y’know, I got accepted early. I just realised.

Sorry, I don’t mean to brag. I’m just so thrilled :D. I really WAS paranoid.

Ah, then the importance of a day like today will b ruind…

Ah well paranoia pays off then…

There should be some sort of scale. The amount you care about going to a university should influence your decision.

(But then everybody who applies to MIT would have to get in. :))

Yeah. My use of a download manager is mostly to stabilise things – my connection pops out pretty frequently, and I hate losing half-done downloads (especially really large ones).

I’m absolutely terrified re. MIT. It’s a good thing none of you can see me right now, I’m a bit of a wreck.

Importance, Shrimportance, forsooth!

I like forsooth, and methinks, and other antiquated relics of the middle ages. (must be my inner Galahad. :))

Well, it does reflect in the amount of effort you put in your app. I wrote a poem about how much I loved Oberlin. I also put a lot of research into my “Why Oberlin?” essay.

I quite like this post on the MIT forum:

Appropriate

And yet again, I make this statement on purpose…I HATE YOUTUBE…This month I hav reachd my download limit just now…sheesh…
