Lakshya- any news from Caltech?

Why, I am flattered. :D

Er, yeah. Haven’t been very around, mostly because I’ve sort of flung myself headlong into IIT prep in order to avoid the void of being rejected everywhere and flunking the entrance test and having to spend the whole of 2007 re-applying (why, yes, I am overreacting to my MIT rejection, but can you really blame me? Apparently essays do not get you in.). Still, there are all kinds of really cool things lined up at the moment, such as a new series of Doctor Who and the book I’m currently reading (Italo Calvino’s ‘Cosmicomics’) and suchlike, so for everyone who worries about me I’m perfectly fine. :)

No news from Caltech for me, but I don’t expect an acceptance. (And anyway, it’s Ugadi, and yesterday was Sunday. It’s unlikely that a hypothetical admit packet could reach.)

& yay, 700! ;)

Ah, glad to hear it! :)

I’m currently juggling two books myself. One’s ISC Biology Part II (or so I’m reliably informed), by a certain P.S. Verma and B.P. Pandey and the other (on the whole I think I can safely say that I prefer this one)'s The Dispossessed by Ursula le Guin (brilliant, I’d recommend it to anyone, not just those who read SF)

I can sympathise with the IIT prep thing, a friend of mine’s taking the JEE as well and he’s in the midst of intense prep himself. I’d tell you not to worry about the MIT thing, but I’d be mouthing cliches, anyone rejected (myself included), is bound to be disappointed, 'tis MIT after all! :)

hmmm…
my boards are practically over
have Comp. Sc on th 4th, so will be studying for that on the 2nd and the 3rd (atleast that’s what I’m planning for now…T_T)
really love relaxing the entire day with no tension at all ![]()
the only problem is that my pc’s gone for repair and i’m having to use my sister’s pc…with dial-up.//

Congrats on 700! :D

@spacepirate: No news, someone in Taiwan(Oasis) got his FedEx packet. That probably means that if a FedEx packet was on it’s way to Dubai, it would’ve definitely reached by now. And since I don’t have it…

Ah well, hold on to hope Lakshya and Noldo, hold on…

Good to see somebody posting on TiT at last though. :)

I was almost beginning to write this thread’s elegy… (Elegy written by a flickering light :))

(For the not so lateral: By the flickering light of a computer screen, which come to think of it, doesn’t flicker that much really. :D)

laksya- taiwanese get it earlier because it is closer from behind the map
you know what I mean, right?

In response to responses regarding my response to Pulchritude’s response to Lakshya’s response to Pulchritude’s response, to every response the world’s every seen:

:)

@ Noldo: Well, Something of a sense of humour then, shall we say, a smidgen of it? :D

@ Kriti: Only 3? Surely there were more, somewhere along the way? :)

P.S: I was going to write, Shrivats’s incredible sense of humour, but, well, I hate seeing s’s, so I picked Noldo. :)

lol @ spacepirate

can anyone explain to me the working of TiT? When does the next TiT thread comes up? who is the IndianThread user?

I guess ‘IndianThread’ was Smartmind. And generally, the thread’s edition changes when the thread changes hands. So, in about a few months - when we are done with our admissions. We’ll have TiT #16. But you can bet, I’ll be there along with my seniority. :p

About holding on to hope:

That tiny voice - I killed it.

aww, I thought you would leave… :(

j/k :D

Well the IndianThread is just this guy you know…
(To anybody who got that, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have 2 heads… :D)

How TiT works? Hmmm…

Back in the mists of antiquity, at a time when the earth was young, and colleges still called themselves colleges, at a time so far back that the SAT only had 1600 points, there was a site.

The site was CC.

And on that site back in those days, was a thread.

And ordinary thread, a perfectly normal thread.

A thread where a group of people from the subcontinent chatted, screamed, and generally exchanged neuroses.

That thread grew large.

Very large.

Too large.

And so the Gods or powers that be shut down that thread.

But the applicants continued, uncowed…

And they created a new thread, and the world was reborn again.

So on it has been for some 14 generations, as posts have been made, chances appraised and friends made, and so on it shall be, for ever and ever…

And I swear by my lord, I shall participate more actively in the next edition.

I have failed to make friends here, but will be more active in the sequel.

Ah well ajay, look at it this way, you’ll be the most experienced member of the new batch.

I can barely wait really…

To see a group of younglings emerge out of the woodwork, naive, unknowing, ready to be guided to greater glory…

:)

I’m in a mood today, as you can see. :D

hahaha, about a 3-4 months ago I knew nothing but now I know that to get into MIT you got to be a spammer :D

Seriously I have learnt a lot here. I have met new people. And yes I have started researching now!

If it was not for CC i wouldnt have my own magazine today :)
