The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Hmm, we’re almost at the 400th page…

I’m trying to persuade my friend to go to UNC-Chapel Hill instead of NCSU. Any convincing reasons?

As for me, I’ve got no prep to do, in fact nothing to do really, save wait for decisions and hyperventilate.

Fun.

Still hearing that people actually are getting in somewhere just about warms the cockles of your heart. :)

P.S: My personal view is that they didn’t dare reject you after your brilliant essays. :D

@fuzzy: Depends on how you look at it really. I’m only the 295th page meself. (20 posts per page) Either way, some number what? :)

@Noldo: So, is it a tube? (like that college :))

Or is it just a folder.

(Bit reminiscent to me of Superman really, Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No it’s an acceptance package. :))

Forgive me, I’m a college applicant waiting for the days to pass. :))

I should say in the default view then… :p

I wanted a tube :(

wow!! congrats Noldo! you sure deserved it…

did you get the FedEx package at least now? :D

Nice one Noldo!!! You can finally join the ‘Accepted to atleast One College’ Club now. Great to hear that you got a good financial aid package as well.

Oh and Fuzzy:- You can’t even compare Chapel Hill and NCSU. Unless of course finances is an issue.

It’s a grey-and-orange folder with ‘Welcome to Caltech’ on the front ([I</a> took a picture](<a href=“Photo Storage”>Photo Storage). Yes, I am a bit too excited.). (And spacepirate – no email at all, no. And the package was only dated March 20, so.)

Anyhow. I’m still doing IIT prep (look, stop rolling your eyes at me! STOP IT!), in order to keep the Parents happy (and 'cos it would be fun to get in and turn them down. You know it would.) myself, but not very inspired-ly any more.

Shrivats, you and Kaushik are going to get in somewhere good. Most definitely. (As for you, fuzzy, I ain’t saying anything for obvious reasons. Nyeh.) So don’t hyperventilate too much, eh? (As for my essays, I am just amused that the weirder ones got me into Caltech, despite my mum’s furious insistence that I was being too quirky for admissions. Clearly not. I bet it was the math jokes.)

the package looks lovely! I want one now :frowning:

I guess I am the only guy now in the notadmittedanywhereyet club.

the package was dated March 20?? no wonder they were so late…

Much better than the well, not so enthusiastic folder Mich’s sent me. Filled more with folders and forms than with anything else really…

We know we’ll probably be accepted somewh…

No I’m not going to be saying it yet. I’m not going to even mention the possibility, Superstitious?

Nah, more not wanting to tempt fate. :)

(Re: Turning down IIT. I know that feeling… Wish I could do that really… :))

I think they held it back to give me my financial aid offer, or something.

I want a —> ! :)

Sorry if that sounds a bit petulant. But well, you know the feeling. :D

Awww, I envy the weather Noldo’s going to be enjoying for the next 4 years.

Isn’t Stanford warm enough? I suppose in a way, I’m looking forward to the cold though, should be nice.

Let’s see if I continue to say that when I’m trudging through snow… :D

Not really, if you’re from India. It gets really cold–70F qualifies as warm in the US…hmmph

Shrivats, you will get a little arrow, fret not. ;)

And yeah, Pasadena weather is rather clement. Although I want to experience snow and temperate-ness, alas (maybe in grad school ;)).

My sister was initially really excited about going to the East Coast for undergrad. (snow and seasons and stuff) A couple of winters there and she learnt her lesson. :D

laugh Yeah, I’m sure stumbling out of bed at a godawful hour of the morning to attend a quantum mechanics lecture or summat in the snow would take something of the joy out of it all. (I talked to a Princeton grad, and he pretty much said ‘GO TO THE WEST COAST, NOLDO. GO. SHOO.’ Pretty definitive, n’est-ce pas?)
