Is it just me or does the order of smilies in my last post look just a bit like Pascal’s triangle?

P.S: This is probably why I swore off programming. :D

Is it just me or does the order of smilies in my last post look just a bit like Pascal’s triangle?

P.S: This is probably why I swore off programming. :D

And this confirms that I and Abhi08544 r the only (crazy) ones to study organic from L.G.Wade…wooohh…

A Plague upon the 60 second rule, scourge of TiT.

We could have at least 50% more posts if it didn’t exist. Hmph.

Hmph indeed. resists urge to make impromptu Just So Stories reference

Well, we hav 2901 posts this month (excluding this one)…COOL…

That’s stupendous. (Or horrendous :))

That’s set to increase drastically I think. We’re good for at least 500 posts daily for the next 2-4 days. :)

I know, I HATE THE 60 SECOND RULE. throws a Rhesus monkey at it

What questions about the college would you ask a college that had accepted you? I need questions! :D

The Syndrome’s alive again! (Ducks said Rhesus monkey)

Questions? (Oberlin I assume?)

I’ll just ask who’s going to be asking you to ask… ;)

Student/Adcom/Counselor

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind a couple of ideas for questions either. Caltech does phonecalls too, if I’m not mistaken.

Well, I would hav asked, How many students manage to survive without Internet?(Alright, a bad joke…but it really fits in)…

How easy is it to get involved in research with a professor?
What is the dorm life like?
Are there any student groups to get involved with?
Do you have student led project teams of some sort?
What is the social scene like? Is it centered around greek life?

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Ooh, definitely asking the research question, then. Awesome. Thanks, fuzzy. :D

issac – why would you want to survive without the Internet? (For that matter, how could you? I’d probably have withdrawal symptoms or something.)

Hold on: has a post of mine disappeared?

There’s something sinister here, Someone’s stolen my post!

issac is referring to the internet ban in IIT Bombay.

My questions:

School Housing: What’s it like, is it guaranteed? If not, what are the local alternatives.

Definitely about Greek Life. A college dominated by a drinking phenomenon isn’t a good thing.

Number of students in intro classes.

Number of TA taught classes

General Student-faculty interaction, restricted to office hours/not restricted

Well, when u will approach a uni’s professor with that question, they will take it very seriously (n indeed seriously when u r in IIT)…strangely, u may hav heard of students suciding in IIT…the reason: Internet…

(Although I wont think of any sort of that thing)

Yes, Oberlin.

Well, like you said, syndromes have to be nurtured. And I threw the monkey at the rule, not you.

Ah well, monkeys tend to deflect you know. :)

Also:

Transport, how prevalent are student owned cars, how necessary are they…
Do students remain restricted to the campus or is it a college town type atmosphere?

How easy is it to get involved in research with a professor?

[yes, good!]

What is the dorm life like?

[also good, perhaps too general?]

Are there any student groups to get involved with?

[I mentioned some of them in my why Oberlin essay… so I already know all about them.]

Do you have student led project teams of some sort?

[can you elucidate?]

What is the social scene like? Is it centered around greek life?

[there is no greek life in oberlin]

Ease of switching majors/double majoring.

Bureaucracy. How much. (Berkeley for example is well known to be horrendous in this regard)
