btw, does anyone in India know of decent internships/jobs for high-schoolers?

wake up, you lazy TiTers! Its morning already, and today is decisions day remember? So wake up now…

My 1000th Post!!!

ah! finally…

bows

How long did it take for you to make that post?

“wake up, you lazy TiTers! Its morning already, and today is decisions day remember? So wake up now…”

When? wHAT? Today is 29th?

Decision day for Duke and some others that Shrivats mentioned…

Some decisions are out today, Abhi. I believe.

spacepirate – pretty much the only way to intern around here seems to be having contacts, ask your parents. ;)

I though Duke would be releasing decision with Ivys.
Best of luck to everyone.

There are few Internships in IIT. Don’t know much about them, although. I did a kind of internship in a small advertising firm. We just went to all advertising companies/advertising clients with a sample of our work. One was kind and hired us (although, some asked the security to throw us out(:D))

@noldo- my parents want me study for entrance exams the entire summer :P

@duke applicants- in the email that duke sent you notifying the decision time, does it say 6pm or 6:30?

beginning 6:30pm

Wake up, wake up… Jeez.

Can’t a guy get his sleep? ;)

It’s the Day! (Everybody just go, jump up and down or something. :D)

Yesterday’s Daily Round Up: 247 posts! :O

Just went to school to look at grad day photographs, which I ended up not buying anyway, and naturally I was asked where I’m thinking of going for university, and whether I’m taking the IIT exam. Following conversation resulted:

“No. I’m going to Caltech.”

“Where?”

“Caltech. You know, California Institute of Technology.”

“Oh, California. Is that like UCLA?”

“…No.”

“I thought you wanted to go to MIT.”

“Yes, but I didn’t get in, and Caltech is exactly as good or maybe better.”

“It can’t be as good as MIT if you didn’t get in.”

“…”

“What subject did you get in for?”

“Whatever I want. Maybe I’ll do Physics.”

“Not engineering? Well, with your marks, you can’t get into Engineering anyway.”

“The hell?”

“Your SAT score wasn’t even good either.”

“…”

Yeah. Wot fun.

My sincere, sincere sympathies. I’m dreading when I walk into school on a normal day. (rest of them are on a break now). Everybody from the kids in 5th grade to the new 12th graders are going to be asking me about my college apps. Not a pretty picture. :)

Don’t worry Noldo, you’re already the stuff of legend on this thread :), your school’l figure it out eventually ;)

Heh. Hopefully they will, although I have my doubts. (And I really want to know why they respect UCLA more, but let’s not get into that.)

It just irks me how everyone assumes I’m supposed to be a bitter MIT reject crying salt tears into my Earl Grey. I’m not doing anything of the kind, I’m squeeing over the thought that I might hear Murray Gell-Mann lecture (I think he still does, periodically)! :D

Earl Grey? with lemon? (Trust me to pick up on the least important part of your post, the syndrome continues! :))

Ah well, it’s strange. Few posts today. Guess we’ve exhausted ourselves on yesterday’s topical and absolutely important discussions. :)

Oh, yes, yesterday’s discussions were most tiring, all that intellectual excitement. :p

And Earl Grey with lemon? Fie, Kaushik! (Ruins the flavour. Any other sort of tea, though, lemon’s a fixture.)

Fie indeed. (Fraternal fie-ing going on here)…

I guess it’s just that everyone’s still waking up I suppose. It’s going to be a long night tonight…
