The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Yiiiii!

I read about Earl Grey Tea, Murray Gell-Mann, and Lemon and it reminds me of the da Vinci Code, and Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony (sorry, I know it is childish, but I love Artemis Fowl.)

As for me I haven’t actually tasted Earl Grey, but then again, I am a coffee person. (A pukka Chennaiite always is)

As for you Noldo, sorry about the converstion, but obviously the guy (or girl?) knows nothing about the U.S. Colleges. Not that he/she should, but don’t sweat it.

Still waking up? It’s 1 PM in India, how can they still be waking up? ;)

Oh, I’m a tea person despite being Tamilian. Childhood loyalties come first, and I grew up in England. :D

That conversation was with a teacher.

Well it’s 11:30 in good old Dubai. (Land of the Pentagon and all… :))

I assure you, it is very, very possible for a person to wake up later than 11:30.

First hand experience? What’s that? :D

Speaking of coffee. This may be blasphemous, but for me, the best coffee will always be that found on Indian Railways. :)

Tea person here too. Living outside the south will do that to you…

Tea person here as well. God I hate coffee, its soo damn bitter even with Starbucks cream on top.

Yeah Noldo, I can totally understand you. Here is a similar conversation that I had myself:

'Sup dude, where you heading off to next year?"

“University of Wisconsin-Madison, its in the US”

“What? Is that like some kind of community college?”

“Not really, its a top public university, and is globally recognized for research.”

“Uhh,ok man. Whatever you say. Too bad you didnt try for Harvard…Hell even I could’ve made it in.”

“**** off dude.”

I’ve actually grown to like the bitterness, recently.

I think that’s due to the college decisions season, or is that taking things too far? :p

Oh. and Congrats Noldo! 800 and counting…

LOL… MIT vs Caltech… we definitely have better PR

I know a math professor at MIT who says, “Caltech is good, but we stole their cannon, LOL”

Yep, bas, you guys do have better PR. Pasadena has better weather, though, so it evens out? :stuck_out_tongue: (In all seriousness, though, it’s a bit silly to obsess over one Very Good College versus another. Pity no-one in my acquaintance agrees with this.)

size=1[/size].

You are taking things too far, Shrivats. :p

dda – yeah, that conversation sounds pretty par for the course. Just because we aren’t going to blasted Haahvaahd.

:) I am, aren’t I? :p

I think that should be the CC creed: Thou shalt not obsess…

Well if you count your online acquaintance, then you’ll find plenty of fellow non-obsessers. (Is that even a word?)

Good to see you back here bas…

I have an admirable online acquaintance, actually (and off CC – well, sans online acquaintance I wouldn’t have applied to the US, I think, so I have them to thank!). Fun.

I slept at 8:45 in the morning today. :stuck_out_tongue: I just woke up. :D

I’m in fact happy Caltech rejected me… my parents would have forced me to go to Pasadena… invoking the familiar place, friends and relatives in CA argument… All the great people I know have gone to both the colleges… eg Richard Feynman… me too (LOL :))

How many people here applied to Duke anyway? The both of us, Lakshya, anyone else?

Sudu1989 .

bas – my parents would have forced me to go to MIT, and the more I read the more I realise I’ll probably fit in better at Caltech (thanks to its theoretical focus), so I am slightly amused.

I didn’t apply to Duke. Was going to, but…didn’t.

Ah, fine. Anyway, should be fun waiting.

Argh, can’t believe I just wrote that. I want my decision now!

LOL… did u join facebk?

Nope. (Yes, I am lazy.) I will probably do so at…some point, yeah.

Shrivats, RELAX. :stuck_out_tongue: If you guys can’t get in, frankly, I’m not entirely sure who can.

I am relaxed. (honest, I am). I just appear a bit more frantic online than in real life. (Whistles an aria) There, I’m fine :)

SPAM ALERT: I’m approaching 500, but TiT will remain unaffected… Princeton’s Word-Association and Ask-a-Q threads will suffer… Off I go…
