There was this guy in my college who actually said “ROFL” when I told him a joke.

When I pointed that out to him, he simply looked at me and said “Lol !” :D

Poor him.

@Lakshya…Duke, dude.

Listening to the Verizon thing is painful really. Painful doesn’t even begin to describe it.

@sid: Yep. Didn’t apply to UCB.

Great, one says Northwestern, one says Duke and one says JHU. Brilliant. Confused? Me? Not at all. :o

I don’t know really, just like I don’t know for myself. (I’m pushing Duke out of my own personal list, or at least to the bottom because of what I’ve heard about it, Penn’s up at the top, as is Berkeley, but so is Rice. Northwestern, I haven’t even begun to think about. Rice’ll jump to the top though if I get any merit from them, which I’ll know in a few days… :D)

@Laksha: What do want to do? Software development with a company like Microsoft? In that case check out what actual software developers have to say about various schools. For instance here’s an excellent article somewhat related to choosing a school for CS by Joel Spolsky.
http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/ThePerilsofJavaSchools.html

If you want to go into the Academia, then that’s an entirely different story and you’ll probably want a school with a large theoretical bent.

If you want to go into business, then Northwestern might be a better option.

Or you’ll get into CMU and this entire discussion will have been academic anyway. :)

Seriously though, in my case, vote people, you know tick off the ballot box, or punch the paper and hope to hell there aren’t hanging chads:

Berkeley:
Northwestern:
Duke:
Rice:
Penn:
JHU:
:D

Exactly. If I get CMU - I go there. You know what? I’m going to wait till I hear from them.

Then, if I need to, I’ll decide between these schools. :D

sp, pyro: Didn’t write the exam today?

I just want to beat my father’s rank and I’ll be satisfied.

@whoever brought it up: I was having second thoughts about not going to MIT but I’ve settled on Stanford now.

@Pyro:I don’t have a green card since I’m a citizen but I do consider myself Indian since I’ve been here for nearly 8 years…half my life.

@Lakshya: Go to Duke unless you get into CMU.

@Shrivats:What major did you apply for at Berkeley? It’ll be really tough to switch if you’ve applied for an impacted major or decide that you want to transfer into an impacted major. Did you find out about the scholarship? Did you apply to L&S or Engineering?

So vote then, in my case. (Desperation kicking in here :))
Which?

@Fuzzy: Engineering Undeclared.
Regents: Haven’t found out yet, their office was closed yesterday. I’ll be calling tomorrow. :)

@fuzzylogic…what exam ? I had better things to do … :D

I haven’t attended the classes either. :)

And I finally found an Indian who rejected MIT for CS. ;)

Guess you and spacepirate are the only ones here who can change a lightbulb by yourselves. :D

To ShriCow

Berkeley

Rice

Penn

Duke

Northwestern

Oh JHU before Northwestern

So aaron’s the new thread killer! :)

fuzzy, i wrote paper 1 and came back home for paper 2 ;)

how about you?

For all you tech, computer-y, guys (and girls), check this out:
Tech ARP - ED#38 : NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX/GTS' Killer Bug;

I had read about the bug before as well. The best part is, everyone jumped and blamed Vista’s poor driver support. :D

That is, until they realised NVIDIA was at fault.

Vista still sucks though. :p

lol
you didn’t go through the whole aticle. do everything, including clicking on thelink to nVidia’s cheap cards and follow the instructiuons

Lakshya – Pfft, who needs Windows? :D

Oh right, it wasn’t the G80, it was the nVidia 680i chipset that was having problems. Anyway, neat trick. :D
