The Indian Thread (TiT) #18

thats crazy, well like i said good luck!

It’s easier than school exams though, the questions themselves, and there is marks inflation (compared to school marks) and you only have your best 4 subjects in your aggregate. So it’s not like you have nothing on your side. But yeah, ISC>>>>>SAT.

so you guys get to choose any 4 subjects,

so school exams are harder than board exams?

No, we don’t get to choose, we have 7 subjects but whatever we do best in is counted in our aggregate.

And yeah, they are in some schools because they prepare you for boards. Like Barron’s is harder than the SAT.

oh ok, yeah they seem tough though, well anyways

later quasi peace out, chak de

I never got the best 4 thing :-/

What do you mean?

what do you mean you never got the best 4 thing? its our saving grace!!

LOL yes it’s definitely in favour of students, but it gives people a legitimate reason to bum off half their subjects

Find the average of the top 4, round it off. Now, you’ve got the answer to the most ****ed up question in the world- “How much in boards?”

And a legitimate reason to burn off half the subjects is a BAD thing?!

I don’t get YOU, tetris.

Imagine if Bangla was in my aggregate. shudder

BSNL
facepalms
You guys really have nooooooooo idea how I survived 4 full days in the middle of boards with NO internet! :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyway, what did I miss.
Also, time for a lil brag- I did all 9 optionals in E.Ed.

Sorry gar, so did cheese and I.

You seriously need a 95% to get into college?? What the heck? How many % of people don’t go to college in India?

He means the good ones. They have insane cut-offs.

And there’s a huge difference between the good ones, which are few and far between, and the bad ones. It’s not like the US where there are a zillion tier one colleges and a college ranked number 8 is not all that different from one ranked number 50.

Ahhh. So you think you and your classmates all have a chance to get into a “good” college?

What do people think of Manipal? A friend wants to do dentistry there, but I heard it was just unaccredited. Or maybe I’m confusing it with Melaka Manipal.

It’s pretty good, I think. Don’t know much about it, although I know one guy who went there. He was pretty smart. It’s good for dentistry I’m pretty sure.

And I don’t know, gappy, about that. I know one of my best friends will get into an awesometastic law school, but that is about al I know. :(

Manipal is considered pretty decent

Here (Malaysia), you have a choice after Form 5 (11th grade), public or private schools. Around our area are mostly middle-class people so we mostly all want to go private. So we go do A-Levels/IB/SAM/Foundation and then apply to do law/med/dentistry/engineering/business/etc in a private college which is not that expensive. For example, eng is about $20K for everything. Of course, we earn less also in terms of USD.

The public one is hilarious. You go for 12th grade in a public school which is cheap, but then you apply for public unis where there are racial quotas. So if you’re the “wrong” color, you might not get in anywhere. But if you are extremely smart, then you probably will be able to get in to a couple of colleges, although probably not the best if you want to do something highly sought after.

@Quasi- I already knew…Was just trying to get a feel of the craziness of this place again.
