Flying emirates is awesome but your connection from Delhi (assuming you are flying frmo there) to Dubai will be kinda a let down but from there on its pretty dandy.

Throw in a little more and get yourself a macbook. You will love it. Free iPod and a printer comes along too.

^Are you sure about the printer bit? I think I read somewhere that one needs to pay a little extra for the printer. I might be wrong, though!

@Ansrox: Dude, Aviator might be right! A lot of people believe that a Mac is the ideal machine for the college environment. Durability, longevity, comfort, style - you name it, and it most probably has it! Have you considered it?

Jet and Lufthansa have special student fares and extra baggage allowance too…

And no, you do not need to pay extra for the printer on the whole.
You pay 100 dollars extra and then get a rebate [by mailing it in] The rebate takes 2-3 weeks for processing but you do get the money back eventually…

I would advise against choosing a laptop until you reach college and experiment enough with Macs.

^ good advice. don’t forget to buy warranty when you get ur laptop - mac or pc.

Oh dear God. Did I check wrong or did Lufthansa’s fares actually go up from 35 to 50/60 K in a few days? :O

Also, jet airways thing has a 50% student discount. Is it applicable for students going to the US too?

The ISO starts on 1st Sept and NSO on 2nd Sept. But I will have my ITA training from 29th assuming I make it through the interview. So my move-in will be on 29th.
I was thinking about reaching 2.5-3 days before and staying in a ~50 dollar place until 29th. Most cheap airline combos cost 40-50K INR.
Sounds good?
Any possible student discount things?

^ have you contacted anyone from international students services @ upenn. generally, they are very helpful in finding someone with whom u can stay if u arrive there a few days earlier.
