The Interview Thread for SCEAers!

My interview asked me what I didn’t like about Yale… and I responded that it’s chilly in Connecticut. Hahaha…

What should I wear if the interview is in a doctor’s office at a really good hospital, but my interviewer was really informal when he contacted me (he didn’t use any capitalized letters, so at first I thought it was spam)? Are jeans ok? Please help!!

^Even if your interviewer contacted you casually, I would still dress semi-nice. No jeans, maybe nice khakis?
I had my interview this week, and it went very well! Unfortunately, he talked almost as much as I did. But what my interviewer said about his personal experience at Yale made me love the school so much more.

I’d honor the occasion and not wear jeans. As always, I recommend a collared shirt and non-jean pants for guys and the equivalent (nice pants or skirt and sweater/shirt) for girls.

My interviewer showed up in jeans and a polo, I think it was to set a relaxed tone so I wouldn’t be nervous. I wore a black high-waisted skirt, oxford button-down, and heels (I’m not very tall). I recommend dressing well regardless of what the interviewer wears, because it will leave a better impression on the interviewer.

I was quite happy with my interview, it lasted 1.5 hours. It was outside at a Starbucks. She asked me about my school, my family, and what I wanted to study, to begin with. We talked about my extracurriculars, why Yale, and the usual interview stuff, but we went off on tangents about politics, and being nice to people who don’t deserve it, and all sorts of randomness. She was very friendly, and I really liked her.

She told me that she was impressed, that my parents should be proud, and that she hoped I got into Yale, but she told me more than once not to “put all my eggs in one basket” and not to get disappointed if I don’t get in. Mixed message… But overall, if I get rejected, it won’t be because of the interview.

I hope everyone else’s goes well!

Still haven’t gotten any sort of interview notification… and that Dec 1st deadline is looming near.

^ Same. i’ve kind of given up

Same here.

Same here for my son. No interview so far.

I haven’t received an interview either.

Yep. Me neither.

No interview here too. I’m not expecting one now. It’s okay.

No interview for me, either. I hope it’s because I’ve already been placed in the acceptance pile! Lol.

^ I’m in your boat too! Except I’m expecting a rejection/deferral come Dec 15th. :p

Scoreee!! We should make our own group. I really wish I had an interview, I think, but I guess maybe it’s better this way? Time shall tell…

Nothing for me either. Don’t know what to think.

I’m looking at it like this: if Yale rejects me, then it just means I have an easier decision to make, since my back-up is a school I really want to go to. "D

^ Same here! I already got accepted to UT Austin and would be more than happy to spend 4 years in Austin.

^
Austin is amazing! Did you get accepted Plan II or regular?
I was going to apply there, but I really don’t want to mess with that Apply Texas stuff… plus, I kind of have an urge to go somewhere out of state.

Already accepted regular, Plan II pending. ApplyTexas was an absolute mess, but I love UT so I waded through it. I too have a really strong desire to get as far away from Texas as possible, but I love Austin more than basically anywhere else. It’s like an island of awesome in the vast ocean of suck that is this state. If I get in anywhere else with significant FA, though, I am gone. It’s just a nice safety. Automatic entrance ftw
