The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

For you dividend folks, any thoughts on BCE? I had a look at the first few pages of their Q3 earnings and they have a divvy yield of about 5.3%. It looks attractive - typical Bell-type play - growing wireless and media, shrinking landline.

You have to buy it because BCE is the first 3 letters of your screen name.

What is your thinking?

Is the company going to grow?

Yes. Good wireless and media (TV) growth. Actually I’d be happy with just the dividends. I bought some in my wife’s account a few minutes ago. The entry here isn’t ideal. It’s in a triangle in the upper-third. There’s a decent chance that it goes down a buck to the lower support line. This is one of those where you hold onto it for at least a few years which is what I try to put in my wife’s account.

I’m pretty bullish on Canada. I have PBA, MFC and now BCE. Some of my MFC shares were free - I get about $120 a year in dividend checks. I’ve had them for quite some time when they bought John Hancock.

Ok…I am going to watch BCE. There are no extra tax forms to fill out because BCE is a Canadian company, are there?

I mailed ours in this week for Ameritrade. I mailed one in last month for Fidelity though I think that I need to mail in another set for a joint account that I missed.

Ok thanks.

I have TAL with a div of 6.4% but then I picked it up when it was in the low 20’s.

I’m looking at the div stocks on my watch list and BCE is included. Now, I have to figure out why I didn’t buy it.

Nice move on TAL today and for quite a while. What a monster of a chart!

I looked at the Div stocks I was monitoring and it turns out, at the time I was looking, BCE was at the bottom of my list when it comes to EPS and revenue growth.

I will keep an eye on BCEagle91… I mean BCE, too. Will that NR301 prevent tax withholding from my Canadian dividends? I own BMO, and every dividend payment has some foreign taxes withheld.

Normal withholdings is 15%. The form keeps it from going up to 25%. You can claim a tax credit for the withholdings and then pay 15% to the IRS. Canada doesn’t seem to withhold on non-taxable accounts (I checked this yesterday on a large dividend that I received).

Sold 1/25 FB 29 puts for .21

Anybody taking a chance with BA?

No BA for me. You?

I will do something in aig. I need to see where it is going to close tomorrow.

I’ve been shorting calls in tlt and that has been working. I am going to sell more probably.

BA is more risk than I can take. If the 787 is grounded for more than a week or two, I think the stock tanks. If it is back in the air soon, the stock goes up big. It’s backlog is substantial.

I see that intc sucked. What else is new?

I’m not sure of this piece of solid portfolio management advice has been posted or not:

It was looking like the 1/19 intc 21 puts that I sold quite some time ago were going to be ok - now I’m not so certain.

No. It wasn’t, BunsenBurner.

Now some people are going to want to kidnap the cat.

I think you are ok, doct.
I’m long intc. Tomorrow…It is so nice to start a trading day in the hole. :)
