The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

so I gather from the comments here, that nobody has any neat ways of playing amzn?

Some of the options closed a little out of line compared to other options. Are the option markets usually this wide in amzn? I don’t think I have looked at amzn options for 9 months or so.

I might sell an out of the money call spread.

I need to see where the options are tomorrow.

Some of the out of the money calls are going to decline in price tomorrrow.

Good link, doct.

And that is why I am not selling puts…

The revenue growth is declining… Wth with the stock price?

Long puts and short call spreads to cover the premium is going to be the winning trade…eventually…

I guess I can make a bullish case for amzn.

60 billion in revenue. Grows 20 percent a year. 5 percent margins.

In 7 years the company has revenues of 240 billion. Operating cash flow of 12 billion.

Stock trades at 1 times revenue or 20 times operating cash flow.

Stock trades for over $500 a share.

I had offers in amzn calls, but the volatility was crushed and I got nothing off.

I had such big plans. :)

I can’t help myself - I’m drawn to aapl like a moth to light. Any good option strategies?

Just bought: FB 2/1 31 -32 call spread for .50 and the 3/16 aapl 460 - 480 call spread for 7.9. I did these for a little gambling. I tried to find one of those condor trades for aapl but couldn’t find a call spread to sell that I felt comfortable with.

I am going to wait until tomorrow or Friday on aapl.

I am not comfortable with any aapl condors yet either.

Fb is gamblng…

Yes it is a gamble that’s why I only bought 5 contracts for $266.

Gambling is ok…

You should know the outcome very soon. :)

Even my aapl position is only 2 contracts so my maximum loss = $1592. I may make a buck or two on this one however - I don’t think its as much of a gamble as the small fb trade.

Yeah…you have a lot more time with aapl…

Fb is ok…it is not a potentially big loss…you can afford it.

I sold another 10 spy 143 puts that expire in 10 days for .10.

I am not going to get rich doing that.

I just sold 100 of the 2/16 rimm 12 puts for .20.

The news is out.

So my bet is the stock holds above 12 for the next 2+ weeks.

Fed’s bias seems to be towards accommodation.

“Inflation has been running somewhat below the Committee’s longer-run objective, apart from temporary variations that largely reflect fluctuations in energy prices.”

" If the outlook for the labor market does not improve substantially, the Committee will continue its purchases of Treasury and agency mortgage-backed securities, and employ its other policy tools as appropriate,"

There goes my $266 in Fb for today but my position in qcom has me very happy.

Qcom…very nice, doct.

Thanks to the cnbc fast money crew who talk up qualcomm all the time.
