The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Well…I ripped up a few thousand today…

Didn’t think they spy was going to make it over 155…

Oh well…

I see that aapl went below 420 for a second…

Ok…I am outta here…

Yeah I had to watch it since I sold the 420. I sold the 405 for next week

This was my worst trading day and week of the year…

Of course it is easier when the market goes straight up. Lol

Aapl dropped pretty close to that horizontal line…

So we will see how aapl does…

Tsla is my only option position of substance now…

I have nothing in aapl…

I should have overslept today. Lol

FFIV dropped 17 % today. Maybe it’s a buy.

I thought about selling goog 750 puts for next week but was too nervous to do it. Interestingly enough, the options guys on cnbc mentioned goog 750 puts and said don’t do it as you could wake up next week and be very unhappy.

I see a little support at 750 for goog…but I don’t know…

I am short the 720 puts…I like to sell puts below support…

Although sometimes…I am more aggressive.

I wouldn’t sell the 750s…

Apple support looks like 420 to me which is why I sold the 410s earlier…

90 percent of the time I follow rules… The other ten percent of the time I get in trouble.

:)

I’m assuming those goog 720’s are for 4/5. I don’t do trades like that because, I like to get at least $100 after commissions. Since those puts are now .25, I would have to sell 5 contracts. There is no way I want to end up owning 500 shares of anything at 720 a share so things like goog and aapl, I sell 1 contract.

I understand…

I sold them for a buck a little over a week ago…

That extra week adds risk…

I didn’t sell any goog puts this week.

You shouldn’t sell more than 1 put…

If goog dropped a hundred bucks… You can lose a lot of money…

Selling 1 put in goog is similar to selling 10 in a 78 dollar stock…

I have a trigger figure and
I dont care about taking losses…

I covered some of the 410 aapl puts. I didn’t need to do that but I dont like to take too many chances. :)

Today was the best close in aapl in 2 or 3 weeks…

the 420 support on aapl held but I sure got nervous when it hit 419.68

I bet. Lol.

The goog chart has a lot of air in it…
There is support on the way down but it looks flimsy to me.

I have my smallest position in goog in weeks.

Its a bit disconcerting how badly tech is performing. It reminds of a decade ago when the refrain was “tech is dead”. I rolled out 10 of the 17 4/5 93 iwm contracts to 4/26 93’s for an extra .65 and sold 10 asml 5/18 62.5 puts for 1.80. 62.5 is pretty solid support. Fortunately the US DOJ approved their purchase of cymer which caused the stock to rise all day today when it has been dropping for 2 months.

Looks like u now have some room in asml.

You are up to 17 puts now in iwm?

What happened to the other 7?

I had 17 puts, I traded them to 10 iwm and 10 asml

Ok…

[Sentiment Survey | AAII: The American Association of Individual Investors](AAII Investor Sentiment Survey | AAII)

These sentiment surveys are used by both bulls and bears. When the sentiment is positive, bulls will say that market participation will be good, stocks will be bought and the market will go up. Bears view it as a contrarian indicator - they think that the average investor is the “dumb money” For years I saved an article from December 2007 which discussed the fact that the “dumb money” was buying sds and qid. This was viewed as a contrarian indicator signifying that the market was going up. I kept this to remind myself how dumb the so called smart money is.

The sentiment numbers are noise until they get to extremes…

Even then the indicators are just warning signs.

I guess we can have 25 percent inflation and 2 percent interest rates.

A generation of investors may never go back to stocks no matter what stocks do…

It looks like FB will be butting to the front of the line on the Android phones. Is this good for Google?

It looks like FB is making Apple a lesser phone.

I think Facebook Home is great… for Facebook.

There are discussions online whether Facebook Home is good for google.
