The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Are you smiling because I bought the 155 - 153 6/22 put spread like you suggested? or the idea that this time is different?

I bailed on my GOOG position this morning.

I had lunch with a Google employee (former co-worker) last week. Things seem to be going great there. He showed me the buildings in the area and he seemed quite relaxed and happy. I like the way that they’re running the company even though the stock market is a bit unhappy right now. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be back in GOOG again.

Because you did the trade.

I edited my post but you were too quick.

I would use smiling faces but I don’t know how on an iPhone.

You may be right about your long term market call. When I say I would bet on something I don’t need 100 percent probability. I could lose. I like my odds though.

BCEagle91, what do you think of the market right now? Any opinion?

It’s on a short-term and maybe an intermediate-term sell technically. I was a little tied up last week, especially with taxes, lunch last week and a shopping errand and bumping up my running. I should have been paying closer attention to the technicals. Kneupper’s site had three sell signals before the drop. I was watching them and should have been a bit more proactive.

Well… Are you selling your other stuff besides goog?

I haven’t decided. I will probably keep PBA and TJX though.

It’s a tough call. Mondays have been weak. The market is higher than Friday’s lows.

Fed is still pumping and Japan is too…

I was going to sell the goog 4/20 675 puts but with earnings on the 18th, I chickened out. I did sell the 4/20 jnj 80 puts for .61

It seems to me that if one is worried about the kind of volatility that Bogle is talking about, the obvious solution is to adopt some sort of mechanical, rules based system that will get you out of the market at some predetermined level and then back in at another level. One example might be a simple strategy based on relative 6 month strength of SPY, TLT and SHY.

[ETF Relative Strength Backtest](http://www.etfreplay.com/backtest_rs.aspx)

Jnj has earnings the 16th…

Yeah so they were already downgraded - that’s why the stock dropped today as you already know

Actually…I dont watch jnj that much…didnt know it was downgraded.

Yeah it’s got a 3 percent yield and I want to buy it below 80. My put selling in this case is not to collect premium but to buy it at a lower price next week.

Ok…

I am thinking of selling puts in fb before earnings…

That is riskier than jnj…

Just thinking…

Everybody gets hit…

This should keep interest rates lower longer…

Just shorted BBY but it’s not looking so good. Someone upgraded it.
Also shorted ECAU but its a junk stock that folks should not mess with but it’s going down.

I never heard of ecau. Just read about it and it does look like a scam…

What about MCD? Isn’t there a bird flu scare in China/HK right now so they cut the price of the Mcnuggets in half?

MCD, BBY - why are you shorting bullish chart patterns?

NKE looks like it is breakout out of a pennant.
