The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

A friend of mine is in China and he is impressed by how many jnj and pg products there are in his wife’s house. (He married a woman who lives in China). He bought those stocks.

Bought a few shares of DIA and added to my TJX position. I didn’t feel like buying anything else.

A lot of big NASDAQ companies are doing nicely today.

^Why is that? I had MSFT shares for a few weeks. It went up 2% this morning. I thought it was great and sold. Now it is up over 4%. Darn! Can I take it back? :)

Yeah…

What’s up with the spike up in the market?

No. I am not watching that closely.

Dia is ex div a week from friday…the regular monthly option expiration day. Apr 19.

Krlilies, your post about fb made me :).

Dstark, like. :)

Lol…

I don’t know why big cap tech is relatively strong today. Maybe because it has been weak for so long? The $INDU has led with the $SPX next and the $COMPQ a relative laggard. One can blame AAPL for some of that. But certainly not all of it. I’m just happy to see a bit more balance in the indexes. The Russell is still a laggard though and that bugs me.

There’s been a lot of volatility and chop in individual stocks lately. I sold GOOG yesterday but it’s up today. Still, I followed my rules for an exit and I have to do that or else I second-guess myself and it allows the potential for bigger losses.

Fslr

wthh?

“Still, I followed my rules for an exit and I have to do that or else I second-guess myself and it allows the potential for bigger losses.”

Absolutely…

If I didn’t cover my short in the spy calls on Friday, my loss could be 6 times larger today…instead of losing .27… I could be down 1.75.

Considering I sold those calls for .08…that wouldn’t be too good…
Don’t understand post 6611…

6611: First Solar up by 12 points. Epic short squeeze?

Ahhhh…

I am long spwr…

I guess I will look at where things closed…

FSLR had an analyst day today and supposedly had good guidance.

“Several large cap technology names were higher today. Intel, Microsoft, and Hewlett Packard were all higher on better than expected news on PC shipments. Semiconductors were the strongest group in the sector.”

[Daily Market Recap | PFS Group | FINANCIAL SENSE](http://www.financialsense.com/node/10950)

"The number of positions waiting to be filled rose by 314,000 to 3.93 million, the most since May 2008, from a revised 3.61 million the prior month, the Labor Department said today in Washington. The pace of hiring increased to a three-month high. "

“The latest issue of the NFIB Small Business Economic Trends is out today (see report). The April update for March came in at 89.5, which puts it deep in the cellar at the 9th percentile in this series, where a distinctly recessionary mood prevails.”

These seem to explain what I saw in the market today. It might be time to unwind the TNA trade as a long-term trade.

BCEagle91, those are great links… Especially the latter two. Very interesting…

Thanks for posting all three links.

Haven’t traded Slv for quite a while - maybe tomorrow

YHOO is in an incredibly nice channel. Volume is dropping off though.

Interesting article: [Germans Among the Poorest in Europe: ECB Study](Germans Among the Poorest in Europe: ECB Study).

Also heard some guy on cnbc say that part of the rally is due to those who have waited for a pullback, giving up and getting in. This may be getting close to time for a pullback if enough have given up on it.
