The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

What is your signal?

I would recommend reading http://www.amazon.com/The-Little-Book-Currency-Trading/dp/047077035X</a> before doing any currency trading. The author uses a double Bollinger Band system and seems to be happy with it.

What concerns me about currency trading is that for every winner there is a loser. I love leverage but the leverage in forex is more than I can risk.

http://www.mql5.com/en/signals/35017</a></p>

I’m using an onshore broker so my leverage is only 50:1 unlike his 100:1, so it’s a little less risky,

Does your client know you are following a signal? Is he ok with it?

Client being the program on my computer, not client as in customer. If you Google “client” I meant the 2nd definition, not the first. It’s my money.

I thought you were trading using your own money, but it was not clear when you mentioned “guy” and “client” in the same paragraph. It’s much clearer now.

HLF saga continues. Ackman tanks the stock by promising a blowout presentation but then the stock rockets up after his presentation. Crazy.

PBYI goes from 66 to 241 on a possible cancer drug. Somebody’s making money.

I just closed out my position from Facebook(FB), bought this when it was lower a few months ago. These are highly volatile stocks in this high strung stock market. I’m not keep in for long term, just trading and profiting.

DrGoogle, nice.

I wish I kept facebook. Damn it. :)

The stock market is down today because…?

I know but FB was still up and I’m glad I sold while it was up. It was nerve racking but not as nerve racking as FireEye(FEYE). I still have TWITTER, so well see how that goes.

I have twitter too… An inconsequential amount.

I dont plan on ever selling it.

Never looked at feye …

I think you have to believe in the CEO of any company to hold the stock and I believe in TWITTER and FACEBOOK. I don’t hold enough of FEYE now, just a small amount for fun.

What does feye do?

Cyber security. It’s the company that published a report that China is sponsoring cyber espionage. In fact, Target has FEYE software but was not taking proper caution, or using it properly and that’s when it was attacked last year. Palo Alto Networks(PANW) is another company in the similar space.

Chinese government still sponsoring cyber-espionage, says FireEye COO | Network World;

Ok… Thanks…

<a href=“Why a Soaring Stock Market Is Wasted on the Young - The New York Times”>Why a Soaring Stock Market Is Wasted on the Young - The New York Times;

Who else here rode the coat tail of Ackman and made some profit from Herbalife(HLF) today? I’m happy to report it was one of the easiest way to make money is to follow the hedge fund manager. Bought and sold puts following Ackman. I know nothing about the stock. :D

:).

Dr Google , I thought you were going to talk about twtr.

This is s gambling thread. I am short 100 of the t 35.5 puts for $.03.

I make. $200 if the stock closes above 35.5 at expiration Friday.

If the stock doesnt hold, I am going to own some t stock. :)

For $.03, isn’t that a lot of work for peanut gain?
I still have TWTR, there was a lot of naysayers about twitter but I follow Mad Money’s advice. If the company has excellent management, that is a good reason to keep it. Do you still have twitter?

I did let go of FEYE for a little bit of money, I think my husband kept saying there will be a stock market correction according to TV. His comment got to me and I sold. Unfortunately I also sold WDAY and it went up after I sold it, made nice profit but could have made more. I closed all CSCO and MSFT for a nice profit.

I still have twitter.

I dont find it hard work at all. I just type the order in and hit a button.

The hard part is if the stock drops below 35.5.

You talked earlier about putting on covered call trades on div stocks.

I like doing that. If I end up buying the stock, i will probably sell some calls and keep some stock. I like the yield.

I’m still working so don’t have time to watch everything, just something with real obvious gain.
Regarding Div stocks - nice rise on VZ, I’m also have this one and DIS.
Josh Brown gave me GBX and I made good money and it keeps on rising.
Vladenschlutte asked me about PE ratio of GBX and I must confess I know nothing about its PE ratio because I figure there are way more people out there analyzing it.
Still looking for clear opportunity to short Amazon.
