The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Lower rates will not help, as they are already too low…low rates hurt those who rely on fixed income,so now,if QE3 comes to fruition, those get hurt further, or jump into the market to chase return, and THAT will really sink them when reality comes back and the market sinks again

Next level of support is around 1270 in the s&p then down to 1200. I think I may wait until ~ 6/17 to buy.

Wow, such negativity ;)

Maybe i should get long

Actually, its not clear that the market is particularly negative. The market is down only ~10% from the recent peak - a garden variety correction. The bond market and the stock market appear inconsistent. The bond markets around the world appear to be predicting a catastrophe with some of the yields lower than they’ve been in hundreds of years.

“The bond markets around the world appear to be predicting a catastrophe with some of the yields lower than they’ve been in hundreds of years.”

Yeah…

That is why selling puts takes balls…

Gold is very strange today.

Not when I can keep going out further in time. As I pointed out before, it works well with some weekly options like iwm, spy and aapl - it works terribly with most other individual stocks. That being said, I have a high degree of confidence that with indices that even if I can’t roll them out, that they will recover. I’m not so confident doing this with individual stock. I couldn’t help myself and I bought some t stock - good yield and little exposure to europe even though I have their service and it stinks compared to vz.

It takes balls whether you know it or not. ;)

Not the market negativity, the talking heads becoming negative…when everyone heads this-a-way, i go that-away

“It takes balls whether you know it or not”

Anyway you cut it, I’ve got less balls than qdogpa who appears to be willing to buy at today’s price rather than next week at a lower price.

Doct, only thinking about it, lol… I am short just about everything, but have been for awhile

I also expect a rather large up day next week, but it will be given back within 2 weeks

For those MSFT bulls…

That sucks…

^^^dstark, that made me laugh^^^

At least one of us got to laugh. :)

I have to be very careful… ;)

Well…now…after another fine day in the markets… we are going to have the same people who advocate for small govt…and cutting people’s SS…cry out for govt support of the markets.

Now…would be a good time to listen to those who advocate for small govt. and see how the markets do on their own. An intellectual, factual experiment. No govt. intervention. No QE. No pumping up the money supply more than gdp growth.

Let’s go for free markets. Let’s see how these free market theories really work. The theories that people spout to make their living. The theories that are taught in the top schools by nationally known professors that are taking payola.

Right now. Let’s do it. Well…sometime after the first hour of trading Monday…after I
cover my short puts. :).

dstark for President!!!

“Well…now…after another fine day in the markets… we are going to have the same people who advocate for small govt…and cutting people’s SS…cry out for govt support of the markets.”

I’m not certain that those people are the same as those calling for qe etc - most think that further qe and most past qe was a mistake.

Anyone in for a cyber cocktail after today’s day ? Ugh…
And dstark-- looks like this thread did just fine… Good idea, wasn’t it? ;)
