The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Gupta was found guilty of insider trading on several counts.

Seems very selective to me…

Maybe because he was a higher up…

Yeah…I hear complaints about the weather in Boston too.

I do like Boston.

I haven’t been to the Bay Area in a while but driving along 101 North into SF was a pain. So was driving around in SF in general. I can see where it would be far more convenient to live and work in the city and not have a car.

This is an incredibly boring trading day…

I would take a nap…but that probably won’t go over too well…

I have the 30 buy/write on in MSFT…long stock/ short the jun 30 calls that expire today…

Stock is 29.95 :)

You have to take 280…forget 101…101 stinks. The traffic flows much better on 280.

Driving and parking in SF aren’t great, buy you don’t really need a car unless you leave the city.

In parts of SF…it is like watching the ramifications of a gold rush…the area is just popping with young people…people with a lot of money. The Marina and North Beach areas are just exciting places…

MSFT closed at a few pennies over $30. Did your stock get called, dstark?

It is automatically called unless the owner of the options tells his/her brokerage firm not to exercise the options.

I am expecting the options to be exercised…so I bout a little stock after the close. I still eant to be long a little bit.

I won’t know until Monday if I was assigned.

I was a bit surprised with a conversation that I had with etrade last night. I held 134 - 131 spy put spread expiring on 6/16. Last night the 134 put was in the money so I called etrade to ask what happens (I never hold options until expiration). They would automatically buy the stock, ok I get that, but if I didn’t have the funds in the account to cover it, they would sell the option - hrs before the close without contacting me even though it trades until 4:15. I got rid of the spread myself earlier today.

I went short on Nat Gas September contract today. Expecting a few week trade. Hope summer is not too hot and utilities don’t use too much nat gas.

Summer has been pretty mild so far - I’m enjoying low electricity bills.

I’m pretty sure that my WFM 92.5 calls were exercised (it closed almost at $95). Fortunately I was able to buy a bunch more shares before the stock took off too much. Absolutely love the company and I have the bags in the trunk of my car to prove it.

Those calls were definitely exercised…

The decision to exercise has to be decided by 5:30 Friday Eastern time.

The whole open interest was exercised…

12,000 before 13,500. ;)

That call is Not looking as good…

It is a lock…sell the rip, nothing has changed except central banks throwing big bucks they don’t have to " back" the countries that have ridden their economies into the ground…Let’s make people feel good by inflating stock prices, so they spend money to help the economy…in the meantime, we run up all knds of debt that will need to be addressed at some point, which will crush the economy…

No…it isn’t a lock…

I was at a Trader Joes today and I could not believe how crowded it was…

Trader Joes is a lot busier than much larger stores…

That would be a good stock to own if the company ever went public…

Lock, and Trader Joes is my favorite private company, great stuff and always crowded…

It is Not just you…many people do this…maybe most… I love long term analysis to explain short term trends… :)

We will see…

There is this short term frenzy about what Greece will do…

In the long term…it doesn’t matter. ;)

If the central banks step on the gas and print more money…it is bullish…

I am a little pi@@@@ at myself…

I really liked MSFT …but I was too conservative because of all the Greek bs…I should have bought the … Out of it.

Even though I try not to listen to the talking heads…the babble seeps into the brain…the brain does what the brain does.

A friend of mine…who runs billions…doesn’t listen to crap like CNBC.

My local Trader Joes is expanding - moving from MA to NH - the laws are a lot looser in NH for selling liquor and they don’t have to charge sales taxes on non-food items. They are at least doubling their square footage.

Microsoft is supposed to announce their own tablet on Monday. That makes things quite complicated for them and their hardware OEMs.
