The Kevin Spacey Thread

I find it interesting news outlets were telling the story first as - Kevin Spacey comes out as gay. Not this piece of it. I’m disappointed, I’ve always admired his acting.

Wondering where all the “pu$$y hat” wearing women are during all of this? Or does it only matter if it’s a politician words and not someone’s behavior in Hollywood?

I’ve always admired his acting skills. If the accusation is true, and I have no reason to doubt the account, then he’s a pedophile and is now coming out as if that would distract him from being a pedophile.

The “apology” was so creepy. I don’t remember assaulting a 14-year-old but hey! I’m gay! Yeech. Who cares if he’s gay; the accusation is he’s a child molester.

House of Cards is ending.

Did you guys see the story about an old 2005-2006 “Family Guy” show where the Stewie (the 1-year old character voiced by Seth MacFarlane) is running away from something and screaming something along the lines of “I just escaped Kevin Spacey’s basement.”

I wonder how many celebrities, politicians and newscasters are sweating waiting for their turn to apologize?

I hope this isn’t a Kevin Spacey rendition of the infamous Gov. Jim McGreevey “explanation” for some fairly awful behavior. If Anthony Rapp was indeed only 14, then sexual preference and liquor have no place in Spacey’s mea culpa.

“Wondering where all the “pu$$y hat” wearing women are during all of this? Or does it only matter if it’s a politician words and not someone’s behavior in Hollywood?”

Really? I think most women were pretty irate at the Cosby and Weinstein stuff. Nobody seems to be making excuses for Hollywood. Have you missed all that? So I would imagine they’re going to feel the same way about this.

Pussy hat wearer here. I absolutely condemn what he did and I’m sure more will come forward.

But as someone who was sexually assaulted as a young teen, sometimes I don’t comment on these things because it’s a painful memory. I do speak openly but it’s been so much over the last few weeks that I’m emotionally exhausted.

I hope this will be a true cultural shift and we will believe women and men who speak up and never again consider putting someone who brags about sexual assault in charge of an office let alone a country.

This pussy hat wearer knows sexual abuse and harassment knows no boundaries. That doesn’t mean for a moment though that there aren’t certain political and cultural environments which especially foster rape culture and silence.

One of the problems with his admission is that it plays into the all too common notion that homosexuality and pedophilia go hand in hand. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard someone say that they didn’t want their child to have a same sex gay teacher (or scout leader, or soccer coach, or whatever) because they feared their child would be molested.

I think it’s awful. It’s good he apologized (better than those who refuse to apologize or admit wrongdoing) but he should have left it at a simple apology. The “if it happened” I can see because maybe he didn’t remember an incident that happened if he was blackout drunk 30 years ago. The rest of the statement and the incident itself there are no excuses for.

I’m a pussy hat wearer and a rape survivor, I am first in line to condemn any type of sexual assault or intimidation.

A man who assaults a 14 year old cannot explain it away with any excuses. He was wrong on so many levels. Homosexuality does not equal pedophilia … Wanda Sykes said he can’t hide under the rainbow on this one, and I agree.

I hope his career is over. He set gay rights back years. How dare he decide to come out on the heels of him attempting to sleep with a minor. This just fuels the idiots who think all gay men like young boys. [-X

Funny, you missed this one…

Wonder why? :-?

^Right? And where has this poster been??? There’s been a huge reaction from feminists at the revelations about Weinstein and other Hollywood figures (#metoo, for instance?). And why wouldn’t there be? Why would someone assume we’d give all this a pass because it’s Hollywood? Rhetorical question, since the assumption was wrong to begin with.

Ok, I’m confused about this comment. Hasn’t there been nonstop coverage of women’s outrage re: Weinstein and other Hollywood power brokers?

That’s probably not what some of the “news” outlets are telling their followers.

He should be condemned for his actions with a minor.

I also have to ask what is a 14 year old doing at a party with adults and being left alone with a single adult. Where were his parents? I also understand he was at the Limelight and was invited back to the apartment
