The Latest Sinister Lothario: Judge Roy Moore

I assume there are other “teens” and former coworkers who will corroborate too.

So far we have one accuser who says Moore sexually abused her: she was under the age of consent, and he initiated sexual contact. Then we have three other women who say he dated them when they were teenagers but any sexual contact was consensual and legal, as they were over the age of consent and they consented.

It’ll be interesting if Allred’s accuser says she was a teenager aged 16 or over, and was thus able legally to consent to sexual overtures, but was subject to sexual activity she didn’t consent to-, i.e. that she could have consented but didn’t.

“New York Attorney Gloria Allred is holding a press conference at 1:30 p.m. CST (2:30 p.m. EST) with the new accuser, whose name hasn’t been made public. The woman alleges that Moore, Alabama’s Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, assaulted her when she was a minor.”

I’m listening to the press conference. EW EW EW EW EW EW EW EW. That poor woman.

Her story: She’s fifteen. She has an afterschool job at a restaurant where Moore is a regular. He flirts and touches her hair, but she thinks nothing of it because she’s a waitress and waitresses have to deal with that.

She turns sixteen. One cold night, she leaves work at 10 when the restaurant closes. She’s waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up, but he’s late. Moore offers to give her a ride home. Instead he drives her behind the restaurant, behind a dumpster where it’s dark. He starts to grope. She says no and tries to get out of the car, but he reaches over and locks the door. He gropes her breasts, she tries to fend him off, he gropes, she resists, then he lets her go, tells her she’d better not tell anyone because no one will believe her, shoves her out of the car, and burns rubber driving away.

She eventually tells her mother, then her sister, then her husband. All have confirmed her account to Gloria Allred.

This the guy you want as your Senator, Alabama?

That story is disgusting. Hoping he drops out or gets pushed out. There’s probably more to come.

Oh jeez while I was typing I missed the part where she said he “began squeezing my neck attempting to force my head into his crotch.”

Gross, gross, gross. This is not a high school boy we are talking about. This is a grown man. Do you think he changed his stripes? Yuck.

Boom! A former Gadsden High School student is on MSNBC right now relating that Moore attempted to force her face into his crotch when she was 15. He squeezed her neck and forced her and she felt she was going to be raped. This is the lady who is Gloria Allred’s client. The lady is tearful and convincing. This is the sixth woman. IMO he is done now.

The link @Belle315 provided above sums up the episode: http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/11/roy_moore_alabama_sex_claims.html

The accuser says she is a Trump voter. She says it’s not about politics, but about a man who sexually assaulted minors.

I don’t believe the voters in Alabama will care and Roy Moore will be elected.

They’ll say, “Gloria Allred,” “Establishment Republicans in Washington,” “Washington Post,” “Fake News”.

A reporter asks Allred if there were any other incidents involving Roy Moore and other waitresses at this restaurant. She says she won’t comment. Uh oh.

Allred says the accuser is not interested in any civil or criminal proceeding. She wants the Senate to hold a hearing about this matter, at which her client and Moore would testify under oath.

I personally don’t have to look far BD. Last year at this time S1 was living with a black student from South Seattle and an Hispanic student from a north-of-Seattle suburb, D was dating a black man, and S2 was riding the bus every day and hanging out most afternoons with another. S1’s girlfriend of 3 years is a reservation-raised Native American.

The more likely you are to rub elbows and develop friendships with people from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, the less likely you are to be judgmental of any different group.

He wrote in her yearbook: “To a sweeter more beautiful girl I could not say Merry Christmas. Love, Roy Moore, DA. 12-22-77”

I tend to agree with @emilybee in #335.

I can’t help but think of the book “Hillbilly Elegy”. There is a segment of the population that does not want to be told what to think, how to react…by the “liberal elites”. They feel attacked by outsiders.

Complicating matters, there is the large number of people who have family members or close friends who got married very young, or had sexual relationships with older men that may or may not have resulted in children. My experience growing up in middle class Chicago suburbia was very different from my cousins who grew up in rural Missouri in the middle of farmland and dinky towns.

As messed up as it sounds, I don’t think we can expect Moore voters to switch to voting for the Democrat in the race. Maybe stay home and not vote at all? I don’t know.

Skin crawled and creep alarm clanging loudly…

If you watch the press conference, it’s hard to disbelieve Ms. Nelson, the accuser. This is worse for Moore, way worse, than the Washington Post article.

^ How so Cardinal? I can’t watch but I expect to see some video or read a transcript later.

Ms. Nelson says she was never interested in Roy Moore. She stated, in tears, that he lured her into his car and tried to rape her. She has the yearbook that he signed “Love Roy Moore.” Probably it can be verified that she suddenly quit her job at the restaurant around the time she says he assaulted her.

She says he tried to rape her when she was a minor. There is no way to spin this, except to say that she is lying, but her demeanor was convincing. He can’t say he didn’t know her, because we’ve got the yearbook signature.

Wow, that’s awful and the poor waitress who was just trying to do her job and get home from work! It’s really sad that folks will still vote for him, but probably true. I have loved ones who were very staunch and lifelong Republicans who switched and starting voting for Democrats once Sarah Palin was nominated for national office and again when Trump was the nominee.

Scary people who abuse others should NOT be given positions of power over others, which just further enables them and their behavior. Ick!
