Tomorrow should be interesting indeed. This man is very stubborn, and we shouldn’t be surprised considering his antics as a judge. He’s not good material to be a “redeemed sinner” since he’ll continue to deny everything. And there are the undercurrents… this is a proxy war of a sort and everyone involved is stubborn.
It took 3 years for Sen. Packwood to resign, just before the Senate was set to vote on whether to expel him. These things don’t happen quickly. Let’s hope the pedophile is not elected and it’s a clean election.
Obviously, I don’t know the answer to this specific question, but I can tell you that my Dad drove around for a while in a car with a passenger door that could not be opened from the inside simply because he never got around to taking it to a repair shop to get fixed. So, I would suggest not losing sight of the forest for the trees.
He might have had a fancier car with automatic locks, even in the 70s. We had an “old” 1975 Lincoln Continental in the late 80s and it had many, many, button controls on the driver’s side door.
There are always men that are attracted to those younger than them so yes, I find it ick personally His wife is 14 or 15 years younger than him and he probably married her in his late 30s or early 40s cause I think she’s in her 50s and he is 70 I think the press said so she was a young woman when she married him. I actually know several men in our town that always have a 18-20 something on their arm. They are rich and they have young girlfriends and they are my age and they have had multiple marriages as they trade in for a younger model…gross really gross…so I absolutely think there are men who absolutely are attracted to young women and some of those guys never give it up and keep going down that path right into old age. Difference between this guy and the old guys in my town are he did get married and he did settle down…or at least on surface it appears that way since they aren’t finding any young girls he’s hit on recently. The force thing and the 14 year old claim absolutely that is unacceptable, but I really don’t have a problem if young girls are attracted to sugar daddies and they consensually date. I think the older men after the younguns are gross but not my aspiration to make it illegal. But make no mistake - in my mind there is a world of difference between a 14 year old and a 16-18 year old - there’s a legal difference and there’s a moral difference in my book. I also think it’s morally repugnant if either of these two abuse stories has been elaborated.
Frankly it’s all about morality now and who is telling the truth. No doubt the guy dated younguns…but did he force two women? Personally I frankly I find the 14 year old’s story more believable than the car behind the restaurant story because no one except that women has said he forced…the 14 year old even said he backed off when she wouldn’t go along.
I could see that she could have had a difficult time unlocking the door if she was unfamiliar with the car and was trying to fend off the groping.
My Nana had a Buick Electra that was kept at her Florida home and she died in 1972, so it was older than that. It had all sorts of electric stuff controlled by buttons on the drivers side. Even the windows weren’t manual on that car.

My prediction is that he’s not going anywhere (meaning he’s not withdrawing). Look at his history. He was removed from the bench twice, the last time after being found guilty of all 6 charges against him including the following:
- disregarding a federal injunction.
- demonstrated unwillingness to follow clear law.
- abuse of administrative authority.
- substituting his judgment for the judgement of the entire Alabama Supreme Court, including failure to abstain from public comment about a pending proceeding in his own court.
- interference with legal process and remedies in the United States District Court and/or Alabama Supreme Court related to proceedings in which Alabama probate judges were involved.
- failure to recuse himself from pending proceedings in the Alabama Supreme Court after making public comment and placing his impartiality into question.
I’d like to believe he won’t be elected, but we’re talking about Alabama, and he’s the George Wallace of our time.
Nominate a person who thinks he’s above the law, and he’ll turn out to think he’s above the law.

I believe the alleged incident with the young waitress was a couple of years before the alleged incident with the 14 year old in the cabin.
