If this were just about any other state, I’d be with VH. But this is Alabama and he’s not backed by the Republican party. He’s backed by the Breitbart Party. They don’t care about what DC’s GOP has to say.

Wow, the thread exploded. I’m kind of where Fang is in post 311. I really don’t care if when he was young he dated 16-18 year olds…aittle strange, but not illegal. Clearly at some point in his thirties he settled down, got married etc. etc. It’s the “force” thing that creeps me out and makes me wonder.
The Senate is going to have a hard time kicking him out after all those in government that kept their seats despite unprovaeble accusations by women. If they do, every single man in Congress and the Senate better stop and take a hard look at their younger years. Women simply claiming things doesn’t seem to fly in government for unseating or disciplining. Just look at the history. You can’t compare men that got caught in photos, on tape, in texts and emails with a guy who has been married forever with grandchildren who admits he dated girls in their late teens when he was 30. He’s denying he did anything untoward. I don’t agree with his politics, but I don’t think he’ll step aside if he genuinely has a clear conscience…, so tomorrow will be interesting. I can’t believe those women say they are willing to testify before Congress. I wouldn’t. Although if I were him, I’d step down and retire, and then file the lawsuits if he has the money to do so and especially if he really didn’t do what the two women are accusing him. The other couple women admitted they dated him, but they did not accuse him of assault and they weren’t technically underage which is “ick” but decades and decades ago, different time and place.
The whole thing will be bad, bad, bad if there is evidence that anyone got “paid” for interviews etc. It will be the Rolling Stone article all over again only based on exchange of money for stories.
When the guy has been banned from the mall for trolling for teenagers when he is in his 30s, that ought to be enough. Sorry, but he cannot have a “clear conscience” unless he has NO moral compass. Which maybe he doesn’t. But… some people don’t believe any guy every REALLY does anything wrong, I guess.
I seriously doubt any of the politicians in the House or Senate have a moral compass. I’m having a hard time thinking offhand one who does. It’s an oxymoron, a moral politician.

Some things I try to claim a pass for since I am not a native speaker of English, but just like everybody calls facial tissue “Kleenex” I think nobody will object if we call it pedophilia. 
However, to be technically correct, the girl was 14, so the term is actually hebephilia. Ephebophila refers to attraction to those 15+.

Well these events give this statement a whole new meaning…
2017 and we are debating over the technicalities of child molestation… as it relates to a national politician.
This isn’t a debate about whether a 17 year old is with a “child” if s/he’s with a 14 year old. This was a grown-ass adult who should have known better.
ETA: And if anyone wants to get super technical, we have no idea at what age this child began puberty.
This has me wondering, about the waitress’s story. (I believe her.) But what kind of car can’t be opened by the passenger from the inside? She tries to get out, but he reaches over and locks the door. Why couldn’t she open it? Every car I know can be opened by the front-seat passenger when it’s locked. I wish she had said she was too flustered to unlock the door, or something.
Or are fancy lawyer cars from the '70s different? I must admit I don’t know my Cadillacs and BMWs.
