Moore is going to win and win handily. The vast majority of Alabama’s Republicans think this is all a bunch of Dem and mainstream lies.
Moore has dodged every reputable news source since the WaPo article on Nov. 9. I know the woman who was the initial accuser has been standing up loudly for the last week or so, giving interviews to TV stations, etc. She is angry (justifiably so) that he is calling her a liar.
I totally believe her but part of me wonders what she wants or expected. If it was not political her timing was really bad. It is a shame it is playing out this way. The length of time and his long standing marriage and no apparent recent indescretions are not helping and the fact that she choose an election time will look calculated to some voters. Very unfortunate.
Of course it’s political. She wants the guy who assaulted her not to be in the United States Senate.
She didn’t start this. The WaPo pursued rumors they had heard, and she and the others were willing to talk on the record. It’s like Anita Hill: She was sought out and asked to make a statement because of rumors. It’s not like these women said, Oh, now would be a good time to come forward.
They didn’t even want to talk on the record at first. It took convincing.
They didn’t set out to have their lives turned upside down, but they felt that their stories needed to be heard after all this time.
Ah I didn’t know a newspaper went looking for her. That would explain the timing. Good for her if she is making the media rounds. It isn’t much in the news here because we’ve got John Conyers in Detroit to hear about.
Way back in 1979 I was in Alabama to do some research - nothing that comes out of that state would surprise me. And not in a good way.
The president called Moore and endorsed him today. He said, “Go get 'em, Roy!”. I couldn’t help but think that maybe he meant Roy should go to the local mall and pick up another teenager. 
The people in AL will really disappoint me if they see fit to elect a child molester to the US Senate. There is no doubt what he is. The Mall even barred him because he was so creepy. He is a sick person who needs clinical help.
It really shows how divided we are as a nation. They would rather elect him than (god forbid) a democrat.
To me it is so hypocritical to claim your a bible adhering state and will openly elect a child molester. How can millions of people in AL feel this is acceptable behavior? Do they not wish to protect there children from this stuff?
It sure speaks volumes as to what they hold dear. Apparently it is not children.
Lets hope they all see the light and do the right thing.
I wonder if a person who is 60 and 35 years or so older than when he allegedly fondled the 14 year old and has been married monogamously I would think) for over thirty years to a wife who is 13 years younger than him and a teenager when he met her? Bless everyone for caring so much, but I have a difficult time imaging what a behavioral health practitioner would talk about with him - his younger years? I bet he hasn’t ■■■■■■■ the malls in 40 years. It sure looks looks like what he’s done in the last decade or so is more important to Alabama than what occurred over thirty years ago rightly or wrongly. As my mother would say - the accusations were too little too late - too late for statue of limitations, too little to sway voters who seem more concerned about today and not something from forty years ago. A pretty valuable political lesson indeed.

Many of us still hold on to the ideals of Nicomachean Ethics, the idea that we should all spend our lives striving to be good people, and that the best of us deserve to be elevated to sit in judgment.
I don’t for a minute believe that someone can grow an intact moral system between the ages of 35 and 70 even if he had lived an irreproachable life since then (he hasn’t, not by a long stretch). When you are 50 then your criminal sins at 15 may have been mistakes of immaturity and you may be a different person. No way does that hold for 70 and 35.
Disgusting that a predator gets a free pass. I’m going to stop recommending UA to the high stats Washington kids.
Actually voters in Alabama DO care. That’s why he had to be explicitly endorsed by the president: he’s losing. In Alabama. Because even Alabama Republicans can’t stand molesters and wont elect a creep, in sufficient proportions that it’s endangering a race that should be won with a 30-point margin.
Yeah a child molester 40 years ago, 20 years ago, is unfit for Congress - time doesn’t change the matter.
I don’t think the desire for teenage girls goes away, I think the ability to actually date one - or get one alone to assault - probably diminishes with age. He was in his 30s, a DA, probably near the top of his game in terms of being a powerful good looking guy. While he may still wish to date teenagers now, I suspect it’s a lot harder to get any to date him…and of course he’s been in the public eye for awhile now so probably wouldn’t risk it anyway.
His poll numbers seem to be about even right now. There is a push right now from businesses in Alabama against him, saying it would be bad for business in the state. Not sure that will help – North Carolina had to learn the hard way about their bathroom bill, and Alabama might need to do the same.
