That’s extremely unrealistic considering the commute, club commitments, schoolwork, and sports.

Figured. I was thinking of trying to do it Wednesday and Saturday, and try to make it work (aka do homework on the train, etc) but they aren’t open Saturday anyways oops.

I was going to do something like that as well, but I decided against it. I’m going to do it during summertime.

@skieurope Stick to the topics you know something about.

Greyeyes, the commute on the train from Princeton or Princeton Junction (parking is much easier at one of the two) is a good hour and ten minutes (the NJT website is your friend) even on an express train. You also have to get to either of those two stations – both are about 20 minutes at least from Lville – then the train, then from Penn Station to wherever you are interning.

It’s long but not 2.5 hours unless you’re interning in Greenwich or somewhere on Long Island

Either way its still a long commute and the NJT isn’t as frequent as you think it is. Bottom line: its not worth it.

@bullneck: i can’t get over your avatar, what is it?

@Bullneck: Honestly I don’t know if 2+ hours door to door from L-ville to wherever a kid’s internship is in Manhattan is that off…

Regardless of the time wasted on commuting, one would not make a good impression by taking on a side job, especially in the first year.

Most boarding schools have mandatory sports requirements that usually begin immediately after the last class period ends. I think that would make any arrangement like an internship that requires a commute pretty near impossible to accomplish.

Class schedules are released!

Looking at other students in my classes… This is exciting!

How do you see other students in your classes?

Click on the link to a particular class, and click on “Directory.” You’ll see the head shots of your classmates and other contact info.

Maybe some of you are in my classes… ;)

Does anyone know what those like unscheduled blocks are? Is it like extra time for each class?

I have no idea…

But on a side note, classbook opened.

Do you guys plan on buying everything straight from there or from amazon? The books are pretty expensive…

I found these two threads to provide useful information:

<a href=“Where to buy cheap books for boarding school? - Prep School Parents - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-parents/1529541-where-to-buy-cheap-books-for-boarding-school-p1.html
<a href=“textbooks - Prep School Parents - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-parents/1373404-textbooks.html

Yeah, we are going to buy from Amazon. Looking at prices, we’re saving roughly 500 dollars.

I’m not sure what books you are buying but saving $500 sounds like a great deal! I just finished book shopping for D, and including a couple of used books, I saved about 30% or $300 by buying from Amazon.

Underformer’s Guide to College Counseling…this information came as part of the initial mail to new III Formers from College Counseling Office, and I loved it and wanted to share:
