The Magical ( and somewhat Official) Yale RD Countdown Thread

This is so sad… yesterday there were about 25 new pages of this thread when I checked it after getting home.

Today, there were two.

I’m going to miss this thread a lot… I had so much fun posting on it and talking with all of you AMAZING people!
Keep in touch via FB, or else!

@sev: CONGRATULATIONS ON HARVARD!

@all of you ridiculously awesome people: Post here occasionally so that this living legend doesn’t cease to be living! I may have been rejected by Yale (IndiaRubber: that box is looking MIGHTY fine) but you all are beyond super.

BUMP.

This thread will NOT die.

I still support the thread too! It is a legacy… haha. So anyone know any success stories from the waitlist?

This thread shall not die.
Unless you guys do not post again.

…I think we should hand it over to the 2014’ers. Start the clock anew until Dec. 15, ya know? It’s still 2009 decisions…:)

YES!!
It does not say 2013 on it

I am staying here so it will help

nah, they’ll want to start their own thread, don’t you think?

thx, ChandlerBing  I just got almost a full ride, as well :)

I agree with No2EULA, this thread will not die.
It is simply too epic!
Let’s all discuss our “where-to-go-to-college” dilemmas!
Help me, guys, Williams or Cornell??

Wow, sev1991, that is RIDICULOUS. What an opportunity.

could use some help

Univ. Rochester for a little cheaper + 3000 dollar portable research grant
or
Cornell University

hmm?

Haha I like this game… So I’m chosing between Dartmouth, Brown, and Cornell… any suggestions?

@pomegranate: It looks like Cornell for you… what college at Cornell did you get into?

spunaugle: Wow, that’s a tough choice! Personally, I’d choose Dartmouth because Brown’s grading system is slightly strange, and Dartmouth is a little more appealing than Cornell. Though you can’t go wrong with Cornell.

How about for me: Cornell or Williams?

@Chandler: Hmm that is a hard one. How is Williams fi aid compared to cornell’s (expected at least since if you’re like me you haven’t heard from cornell’s fi aid yet). Though I’d say if they were close to the same Big Red all the way :)

I shall transfer to Yale/Cornell.

I’m telling you I will.
wags fat finger

ChandlerBing: Williams, unless their financial aid is really crappy.
spunaugle: Brown or Cornell!!
prateek: O’ course you will.

To go to Grinnell or staying in Germany or reapplying next year?
I am suddenly not so sure of Grinnell anymore(after all I sorta need a big city close to me), and I’d probably have to take a loan, but then I am not that credit-worthy.

This thread is in its death throws :frowning: I miss it; everyone just disappeared :(

_Silence: That is a hard one. I have a friend here who is staying in Switzerland and reapplying, so you wouldn’t be the only one. However, you’d have to do something that would make you stand out more, or something, like work or travel, 'cause otherwise it probably wouldn’t do you any good. What sort of college options do you have in DE?

Death throes, Schmeath throes.

This thread shall live.

(I encourage everyone to NOT pick Cornell so I can get off the waitlist…Not really. (Or maybe, really?..?))

@_Silence: well, do you want to go to Grinnell as a first choice, or would you like to transfer somewhere else?

I think if you’d like to go somewhere else, you should go to Grinnell and then transfer out ASAP, only because a school would want to measure you against an academic record if possible…

That being said, There’d probably also be many things you could do back home/abroad to make yourself one of those ‘compellingly interesting’ applicant types.

^ Of course, being a reject/waitlistee, I’m probably not the best person to advise you.

Maybe call some school’s departments this summer and ask them about transfers?
In the mean time, I’d research everything about FA/loans as I could.

I’m still here :)

Even i was thinking of taking a gap year but then i do have northwestern and carnegie which are pretty good choices

And unless you really have something in mind to fill your gap year i doubt it’ll be any different
I was thinking goin to antarctica…seriously…theres this global warning awareness expedition…although i think i’ll do it in the winters…its awesome :)

But yes i will try transferring too

This thread is still alive, and I’m still here!

I think Williams is emerging as my top choice, but I haven’t gotten their aid package and I just got a letter from Cornell saying that I didn’t qualify for aid there! ***?!?!?!
I’m screwed unless I can get some aid from Williams…

I don’t think I’ll be transferring ANYWHERE. Cornell/Williams were my top choices (with Yale, but as all of you know, I was rejected just like 99.9% of the regulars who posted here) before applying, and still are after getting accepted!

^ …Um…

If Williams is emerging as your top choice…(please know that Cornell has always…and will always…be mine. It’s seriously almost all because of Happy Dave, but. lol)

(I’m a waitlister…sobs)

yeah it seems like this is almost the aftermath effects. Slowly few posters are coming back, but the most frequent may be gone for good.

I’m off to georgetown. Got waitlisted at Harvard and rejected from yale and princeton. Not pursuing wait list though because i love georgetown anyway :-).
