The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

Of the photos in the NYTimes article of the red carpet, I like Natalie Portman’s dress the most.

For movie star glam look, Jennifer Lopez.

Billie Eilish’s outfit just looks awful, sorry.

Oprah looks amazing.

Funny… I especially liked Natalie Portman’s dress. It’s what made me think of adding the link here.

For anyone looking for a dress with a little more coverage, check out 90-year-old Joan Collins’s stunning look.

She looks amazing! And this dress would look great on women half her age.

Thanks for sharing the link, Colorado_mom! Loved the elegance of Greta Lee’s pale dress!

Also really liked the simplicity of Gillian Anderson’s - didn’t notice the accoutrements until you shared that link, Bunsen. Makes sense, given her current work project, lol.

@Marilyn , she looked absolutely amazing. We only tuned in randomly throughout the evening and I’m glad I got to see her.

I’m back in shopping mode! Older DD’s wedding is in June and I got a dress in September. A couple of weeks ago I found shoes. They are comfy and rang up at $25! And I need to try it but I think the little bit of heel will be enough that I won’t need to hem the dress.

Now younger DD’s wedding is still 16 months away but I started looking this week :see_no_evil: She wants her bridesmaids in eucalyptus and her theme is “old money” with greens, champagne, and satin. I really loved the color of this one DD did too, it’s a shade darker than the bridesmaids. With only 1 left in Medium yesterday, I ordered it so we’ll see how I like it. Same shoes should work with this one.

That’s really lovely! Hope it works!

That’s a beautiful green dress - style looks like it would be really flattering! Those colors (shades of green) sound elegant & cool!

Yesterday was a MOB shopping afternoon for me with my girls - bride and sister. Came to Columbus where there are more store offerings. I/we are looking for a non traditional MOB dress. Something more casual, probably a print or some visual interest that is not a solid. Maybe a springy floral or pattern. Knee length will consider a midi. Something a little fun!

Most stores were a flop. Omg the amount of Little House On The Prairie dresses! One offs, no multiples in sizing. We we went to Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, JCrew, Anthropology, Saks Off 5th (or whatever it’s called) I really am not a fan of ordering multiples online I prefer in person.

This was the only dress that I might have considered but the top was a terrible fit - beyond being fixed through alterations.

I may try shops at Ann Arbor weekend on my own and see if I have better luck. Also was surprised to see how little spring merchandise was in stores - not much yet!

If you don’t want to order multiples online, try looking online so you know what stores to try. Some online stores will show if available in store or just online; this way you will know where to go. You may need to wait a few weeks for most of the spring dresses to show.

Good luck!

Although the spring dresses are not out yet, Talbot’s usually has some very nice spring floral dresses. My sister found a very nice floral dress there for my son’s May rehearsal dinner.

@abasket have you tried Eliza J? She often has floral dresses in varying lengths that would be suitable for MOB.

When I was shopping for MOB dresses, Dillards (online) seemed to have a great selection but we don’t have Dillards where I live. I preferred doing my shopping online but only purchased from stores where I could return to brick and mortar so never bought from Dillards. I think you are in OH? I know where my sister lives in NE OH there are Dillards stores but I didn’t see that on your list of stores you tried.

When’s the wedding again?

My daughter’s is in June. I don’t think there’s too much summer out yet.

I bought this dress for my niece’s wedding that I’m wearing for one of the events for daughter’s wedding. I found that this dress was pretty forgiving and although I thought it ran a size small was stretchy enough to cover a multitude of sins. Not sure if your Anthro had this in the store.

I love mesh dresses. White House Black Market often has them as reversibles! Love me a, “two-fer.”

Looks like this great dress has a new print, too

This dress comes in a bunch of prints and fabrics. I think there’s also a shorter version also.

Kinda like the Somerset dress from Anthro. That comes in a maxi, a mini and a jumpsuit. I notice that Anthro does that. Have a few styles that have a ton of options

We do have Dillards in my town. I haven’t been in years! But the MOG told me that’s where she ordered and found her dress

Lol I saw that dress yesterday in the store - the attendant helping me was wearing it and your color! I’m like , you’re wearing @deb922 dress! Haha

They didn’t have it in the store for purchase.

I’ll post some more pics when I do some searching. I sort of would love a black with floral embroidered dress like I think @oldfort posted - but my budget would be WAY lower! I saw one yesterday but in a much too small size.

I would prefer to not spend over $200. For me especially if it’s a “one and done” wearing (I love dresses but much more casual ones) I won’t spend a lot of money.

The wedding is April! I’ll find her!

I looked lots of places and ended up getting my MOG dress at Dillard’s. At least a couple of years ago, they had a big selection, especially online.

I love getting several likely options from Nordstrom’s Rack to try on in the comfort of my home and pondering which ones are possible.
