Gorgeous!
@deb922 - really like the shoes you posted (so elegant!) and four dresses along with them. So pretty, Springy, and flowy. Seem perfect for the events you described!
Donāt know if you all wear shapewear, I do on occasion. Iāve been looking for something with strong tummy controlā¦ie push that sucker flat. I found some Spanx that did just that AND are fairly comfy.
At first I thought they seemed hard to get on and Iād need the larger size. But after putting on the larger size, they didnāt do the trick as well, and it seemed a lot easier pulling my size up the 2nd time. I found the āsculptingā did a much better job then the one level down, I think thatās called shaping , thereās 3. Another thing I like about is was the it didnāt dig in my waist as much as other compression shapewear. Itās tight, but was pretty comfortable. I could wear this for hours actually.
Just an FYI if youāre needing more help in the tummy,
Glad you found something comfortable!
I donāt wear shapewear regularly, but occasionally a dress requires some smoothing underneath. This is my go to brand and one of the favorite pieces of theirs:
Thatās the exact shaper Iām wearing with my dress. Iāve had mine a while and it is pretty comfortable although I donāt use it often. I ordered many different options for my MOB dress and couldnāt find anything that worked better than the Spanx.
I went up to Atlanta last week for my dress fitting. It was a real commitment to fly up for just that, but since it took 4 months to get the dress made it seemed safer to use that storeās alterations woman rather than taking a chance with someone local. It fit me like a glove right off the hanger! All it needs is hemming. Iāve definitely had some nerves about the dress during all these months of waiting because itās a bit out of my comfort zone. But I absolutely loved it and am now really excited about wearing it to the wedding.
The rehearsal dinner dress needed a lot of alterations. So strange that itās the same designer and same size, yet needs to be taken in everywhere. Plus we are adding bracelet length sleeves. I loved the alterations lady and feel very confident she can get it right. So I declined going up again for a second fitting. Someone here can give it a little nip or tuck once the major work is done.
The shoes I took for the gown worked great, so jewelry is the only open item for my wedding day outfit. I wasnāt as happy with the shoes I took for the rehearsal dinner dress so Iām going to switch gears and look for silver slingbacks. I had already bought a gorgeous silver bag for the wedding, so can also use it for the rehearsal dinner. Itās dressier than I would normally take to dinner, but might as well for such a special occasion!
Um, um, umā¦
Is it low enough that you can pull it down when you need to or do you have to manage through a hole in the bottom?
I swear I couldnāt do the latter!
Paging @BunsenBurner for the name of the shapewear she has recommended a number of times.
Itās three or four posts up!
Thanksā¦I missed it.
@BunsenBurner can you explain the sizing? Does it run true to size? A 3 says 8-10. The only size left on your link is 5 which is XL, but they seem to have this at Amazon for $20 lessā¦
Yes - itās waist high so much easier when nature calls. Thatās another reason Iām going to use it with my dress. I donāt want to deal with a gusset and the dress is too form fitting for a high waist shaper. Iād never be able to get it up and down.
Not sure what you mean is it low enough. Itās tight, but not so tight I canāt pull it down quickly. The band is around my waist not above it. Are you looking at BunsenBurnerās? I tried one on like that ( it was Honeylove though) and it had a hole to use. But it was so tight I would have been too uncomfortable. I really felt like I was in a girdle.
Got it! Band is at your waist not above it answers my question. So, it can be pulled down as a pair of panties would be.
Thanks for clarifying.
I tried one on one time, and it sure did the trick, but it was way up above my natural waist. Like, to the bottom of my bra almost. The dress was fitted, so, it was a definite, āno,ā for me.
Iām sure this has been talked about before here⦠an a non-shapewear owner, do most people prefer a shorts type over a one piece (bra and bottom)? I suppose the one piece brings an extra challenge for potty purposes??
I posted in the Shapewear thread that I wear a Bali one-piece every day. Itās SO comfortable and no lines anywhere. And, as I posted upthread:
Quicker than panties, donāt unhook, just pull aside (sorry if TMI).
Nice! No bra wearing underneath? Iām looking more for smoothing than shaping.
I tried this one piece bra/shaper but couldnāt get the right bra fit. Since my dress is strapless, I decided to use separate pieces that fit really well. Plus I wonāt have to deal with the gusset issue.
That one-piece is just that, one piece as shown, nothing underneath. Itās two-layers, a lacy outside with a thin nylon layer inside. The top bra part is comfortable and supportive. I would definitely call it more smoothing than shaping as it is not tight/restrictive at all, just a light overall feeling of stretchy ācompactness,ā but Iām not aware that Iām wearing it. I absolutely love this thing and have been wearing it for decades. Itās a best-seller thatās been around a long, long time.
(Should be washed in a laundry bag to avoid snags/pulls.)
I am half-heartedly looking at styles and colors that I think I might like (wedding is May 2025 so plenty of time). So far I have been told navy blue, which I look good in lol. I am also short, so itās going to be a challenge. I also donāt want anything I need major shapewear for, since it will be a long day.
But I found a few styles on Amazon for less than $100 that I really really like, and have great reviews. So on a whim I ordered one and it will be here Monday. Itās long, so Iām hoping for the best. I figure for $60 and free returns it was worth playing dress up
Show us!! Pretty please.
