Okay - I clicked on the link and my first thought was: Wonder Woman?
not hooker
Then I googled “Wonder Woman” and thought, “okay - I’m not far off here”

I can’t say I find the two issues even remotely the same other than both involve people on TV.
Josh Duggar admitted to a crime, long past the statute of limitations by a happy coincidence. His parents, who have maintained that they are moral, just people, knew and covered it up - in other words, they took the easy way out.
Caitlin Jenner has transitioned from male to female. She made a very difficult decision she knew would be very public and she could not avoid harsh reactions.
Josh Duggar is the son of a reality show person, neither of whom has achieved any personal distinction (fathering 19 children is not a particularly crowning achievement; nor is being one of those 19 offspring).
Caitlin Jenner was THE athlete of the 1976 Olympics. As Bruce Jenner, she totally dominated the decathlon and summer Olympics
I can see how he could have struggled for decades before fully transitioning. The 1970’s US was hostile and dangerous to the LGBT population. I don’t know if there even was an openly gay public figure; the closest was Liberace. I’m not even sure when Billie Jean King came out (somehow it was slightly “easier” for women) but I kind of remember it was after she retired from the tennis circuit. Rock Hudson was outed only because of AIDS in the 1980’s.
So living a lie? Yes, that’s the sad part. He had to live a lie. He wasn’t maliciously lying to his wives. He was trying to fit into the world and society of the time.
As Bruce Jenner, there was never a way to “quietly” transition. What the heck do you think the poor guy was trying to do the past two (or I don’t know how many) years? Nasty rumors, unflattering pictures, even his polished fingernails were photographed, popped up all over the place. He wisely took control over this one and final part of the process. The fatal car crash is a horrible occurrence that happened to coincide with this VF article.
While I prefer the photo with the black dress, I can see why the editors put the white outfit on the VF cover.
I haven’t read the last 150 posts on this thread but it seems at least a few posts here at the end (page 14-ish) are trashing the Kardashiens for being trashy and all that. Apparently, the K’s don’t dress nicely in the eyes of some.
Hmmmm.
Not sure about that.
Jealousy?
There’s a reason why the K’s are some of the most photographed women on earth and it isn’t because they are lucky. They are attractive to put it mildly.
Some people attack the K’s because of the big J. They call them trashy or whatever. They are attractive. Get over it. No need to attack them or tear them down because of that or claim that they are setting a bad example for young people. No one forces any young or middle aged or old people to follow the K’s.
Also remember that “gender” and “sexuality” are two entirely different things. During the transition process, Caitlyn said that she has never been attracted to men. Transitioning to live as the gender that you identify with does not change who you are attracted to. And doesn’t mean you would want to, either.
According to an article I read, Kris Jenner was aware of Caitlyn taking hormones in the past, and of enjoying dressing in women’s clothes. I’m having a hard time believing he was “lying” to her if she was aware of those things; I know it would certainly invoke some conversations in my household.
Here’s a Kardashian hooker look. (different sister, but they all have been out in these types of get ups) https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/33/9f/52/339f525cff7264a8a3bc77619249c00f.jpg

I think women need to stop obsessing so much over who wears what - it’s really superficial.
As I said, I think Caitlyn looks beautiful, and if she wants to wear make-up, good for her!
But the other extreme is trashing women who DON’T want to keep up with style and make up. Who. Cares. I don’t wear make up and most likely never will, and proud of it - don’t like the idea of it at all (for me), and whatever a cat sweatshirt is - cool! I have a sloth sweatshirt, does that count?
Who cares about make up or hair color or clothing or trends? Maybe it’s time we stop judging each other (Caitlyn included) on purely superficial things and talk about attributes that really matter.
Sorry if this has been brought up earlier on this thread, but did you read the article a few months ago in the New York Times about older people transitioning (many because they waited until their parents passed away) and then they have to deal with older bodies/faces…the article mentioned balding men transitioning to women. The article made the point that it is often more difficult to “feminize” the face of an older male who is transitioning to female. (I get that…I’m starting to look more like my father every day!) I think that some of the people featured in the article would have loved access to the professional hair, make up, styling and photography that Caitlyn had, to be able to see themselves as very female, even if they don’t look like that every day.
I really like a couple of the outfits, especially the top one and the first two see-through ones. They are definitely dramatic. She seems to have a consistent look, which always impresses me.
and now I’m googling “female super heroes” and “hooker costumes” which seems to generate a whole lot of discussion. I had never considered it before. Here are the role models for young girls in comic books. Here are the Kardashians.
I don’t have any issue with Bruce transitioning to Caitlyn. I, personally, don’t find her that attractive- at least not in the face. That’s my opinion and I tend to find more petite females attractive. I also don’t feel like bowing down and worshiping her for doing this. Great for her and I know it took some courage and a lot of medical work. So does having cancer treatments, brain surgery, orthopedic reconstructions etc. There was something wrong in her body and it needed to be fixed and finally, at age 65, it is being fixed. Glad for her, and I understand that Bruce was a very public figure- both for good and not as good reasons. I hope she can enjoy some privacy- if she wants it- which I somewhat doubt.
It’s called hitting their ‘triggers’. It’s the new permission for things like feminist professors striking students with ‘offending’ signs, responding violently or in a verbally abusive fashion when another makes statements which cause you lose control.
And under the classification of ‘irony makes my day’…funny how those that absolutely get ‘triggered’ by Fox News are able to list and itemize what is supposedly said and reported on this particular news outlet. Why would one intentionally hit ones’ own trigger? (yes…I’m sure that calling Fox a news source is in an of itself a ‘trigger’…and there you have it…more humor).
When your whole purpose in life for the past decade has been to live that life on a reality TV show, when you wedge your way into peoples living rooms, grocery checkout stands and regular Etv etc venues you have declared loud and clear that privacy and an introspective life are NOT for you. If you go on a major news outlet and hold court with an interviewer…then…guess what…you and your life are up for grabs at any and all gab fest the common folk would like to hold.
To me, what the Caitlyn story does is put this right in front of us. No, with her money and access, she doesn’t represent all who transition. Many won’t have a smooth path. But imo- and I know this will bother some- I appreciate that she did put this smack in front of us. And some public figures who face other sorts of challenges do reveal those, which does give others facing similar some courage and bring some people’s heads out of the sand.
People can fuss about the photos today. Or whether they think this or that of her looks. But that’s not the entirety of it.
Lol, Pizzagirl. I hope I don’t get to the age where I don’t still try to look as Y and B as I can. MIL is 81 and still has her hair done, manicures, and pretty clothing.
And they darned well better take 10 years off my true age if they have me laid out in some stupid open-casket affair!
Should she have dressed like this picture of Helen Mirren at the Emmy’s? http://helen-mirren.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=102&pid=984#top_display_media
I actually didn’t think the outfit was bad at all. Basically the equivalent of a fairly conservative bathing suit.
^ Holy S. That should have been kept at home.
"This is sooooo revealing because it projected that Caitlyn’s makeup/hair/styling/presentation must have been driven by insecurity as opposed to the pleasure of knowing you look good.
It’s kind of pathetic to think that looking good is only the province of twenty somethings. Well, that’s how you get cat sweatshirts at PTA meetings, I suppose."
I’m sure that many (or even most of us here) try to look good. Some of us exercise like crazy, get our hair colored, wear makeup, buy nice clothes. Even a little nip and tuck, facials, maybe even a boob job here and there. But I’ll bet there’s not a lot of people admitting to massive amounts of facial surgery to completely change the way they look. And I’d also bet that many who are horrified that anyone would not be completely wondrous over such massive amounts of surgery, would have been happy to critique Joan Rivers when she was alive, for the lengths that she went to.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The K Tribe might be attractive, but they are unequivocally trashy. And it is that can of trash that sells on today’s shows. Bruce is just part of the same freak show that is meant to disturb, shock, and monetize the new normal aka the dysfunctional US family.
It is entertainment in its 21st century version. Gutter dwellers living in a fantasy world fueled by riches. The fact that such garbage inspires plenty of followers speak volumes about our new society. Just as the fact that it is perilous to speak up and criticize that bunch.
I don’t find the K’s clan attractive, I’m not jealous of them.
Actually, there is nothing “new” about people being drawn to other humans trials and travails. That has been happening since the dawn of time. Hopefully what is new IS that people are starting to respect peoples choices of how to live their own lives.
But maybe not.
Please don’t use the term “transgendered.” It is “transgender.”http://www.glaad.org/reference/transgender
