The new Kate Gosselin

There have been threads on here about Kate, and I’m wondering what people think of her new 'do and gig on Dancing With the Stars.

I remember people had some big hate for her (I don’t have cable so never saw the show), but, I think, she’s done a great job of rehabilitating her image. That crazy, asymmetrical cut made her look so severe; I like the softened look. But, more importantly, she’s seemed to done a great job of making herself look like the victim and that all these other gigs she’s taken – co-host “The View” and dancing on TV – are just her way of providing for the family.

Just thought I’d throw this mindless topic out there.

I have always liked her. She has courage.

Or just her way of staying in the limelight and feeding her massive ego. Stories have already come out that she is acting the diva of DWS–and she is hardly a “star” of anything.

I think once the media started showing how her ex-husband was such a juvenile; many people took anther more objective look at Kate. I’m happy she has found a way to earn a living and take care of her kids. Shyanne, I like her too.

barrons, FYI, on The View she talked about how she’s doing all her practice during the week at her house in the basement, so she said how could she be a diva when she’s not even on the set.

Not a fan. Avoid “The View” when she’s on.

Never believe stories.

I can’t decide what I think of the new Kate.

I’ll take Kate on DWTS over Blago on The Celebrity Apprentice!

I will miss them both (Kate and Blago!). So, I’m thinking maybe “Johnnie” Edwards will go on one of these shows soon.
I did check out Kate’s new hair online…looks good to me.

Kate has always fascinated me. Her stamina in raising her children and being so organized and strong about teaching them things, exploring interests, places, etc., and manners, too, has been remarkable. I can imagine she could be hard to live with, since she is a perfectionist and wants things done her way. But I have to admit, her way is usually the best! LOL! Jon is another whole story! I hope the kids are OK and wish Kate the best. She will have to be the breadwinner in the future.

Many dissertations could probably be written about the likes of Jon and Kate and how they sought fame through TV. However, in the end, she is the only one who has stepped up to the plate when it comes to being the responsible parent. She finds jobs, works them around her kids schedule as best possible, and is more on top of what’s going on in her kids’ lives than many parents with one or two children.

People who don’t like her will fault her whether she is on TV or not. Jon’s true colors have shown through and I think she made up her mind years ago that she was in it alone, and would do whatever it took to raise these kids, with or without his help. It drives me nuts when people complain about her working in TV and say she should go back to nursing. Do they honestly think on a nursing salary alone, she could manage financially? Especially since it seems as if jerky Jon contributes nothing toward their family income. I suspect she spends much of her time in survival mode.

Would I want to be friends with Kate? Probably not. She’s the kind of person who probably throws people under the bus. Do I think anyone else could do a better job at raising her kids? No way. So for that, I respect her. Frankly, I think she and the kids would be better off if Jon just disappeared. He basically comes across as a glorified babysitter at this point. I don’t care how mean, snotty, demeaning, etc. your ex-spouse is, you step up to the plate when it comes to taking responsibility for your kids.

I don’t think anything about Kate. I have no interest in her whatsoever. In fact I ignore pretty much all reality TV shows.

Let’s see how she gets along with Tony. Let’s face it, everything we’ve seen about her or Jon is a “story,” edited for TV. Tony usually has great chemistry and is very supportive of his partners. If she’s a diva, I think that will show in their dances. He won’t behave the same way as he did with Melissa or with Jane Seymour. I’ve never liked her at all, but I’m holding a somewhat open mind until I see the first dance.

I think she and her ex-husband are both selfish, fame-hungry money-grubbers.

Do not waste your attention on people who are famous for no discernible reason, Grasshopper.

Don’t watch the view, but I am a DWTS fan. Tony doesn’t seem to have much faith in his partners and doesn’t push his partners with routines that are risky enough so that they can showcase their talents. He finally started choreographing really tough stuff for Melissa but then she could really dance.

I hope he does a good job with Kate. I’ll be interested to see if she can take direction…judging by her choice of ex-husband, she likes to take the lead…

I’d never actually seen these programs (and I’d cheerfully smash the TV before watching “The View” - sorry, but I don’t care what any of those women think about anything). But this winter, when I just couldn’t get my day going without additional time and caffeine, I saw reruns of “Jon + Kate” at 6 AM. I was impressed by her ability not to become an all-out screaming maniac, because I certainly would have, in her place. And the show made me sad because there seemed to have been a nice family there, before it was corrupted by fame, materialism, and reality-TV easy money. I don’t know how a young couple could support 8 very young children otherwise (perhaps something to consider before having 8 very young children), but it seems like exploiting kids who can’t possibly give informed consent to plunk a camera into the middle of their home while they’re growing up.

It also always makes me think of the Dionne quintuplets, who were raised in grotesquely public circumstances in the 1930s (though it was their MD’s ambition, and not their parents’, that put them in that position).

So I’m not a fan of Kate, Jon, reality show producers, People Magazine, The View, and anything else that wants to persuade us that this is especially newsworthy. I do admire dancers, though. I hope Kate Gosselin is putting money aside for 8 college educations - she’ll probably have to become a Real Housewife next (and afterwards, God knows) if she wants to have enough in the bank for that.

Prudent advice, especially in this case.

frazzled1 - you have been a victim of careful editing.
She is/was an all out screaming maniac AND she didn’t need the show to corrupt her… she was already well on the way.

Her hair does look better.
Anyone know how much money she will make from this show?

Do you think I can sue? :D

Maybe what I actually mean is that I’d have been pushed over the edge into screaming maniac status with less provocation than even she needed to get there!
