The new Kate Gosselin

I only saw the show a few times when at the hair salon. I thought that she treated her husband horribly and figured it was only a matter of time before he started acting like an ass. Treat someone like a child long enough and they will eventually rebel and begin acting like a true juvenile.

I also found the show incredibly exploitative of the children, but as a RN, I agree with the other poster who said it would be impossible to raise 8 kids on a RN salary.

and I’d cheerfully smash the TV before watching “The View” - sorry, but I don’t care what any of those women think about anything

I am right there with you.

My main beef with K is that she was all about capitalizing on the kids from before Day 1 seeking large donations and rejecting anything used. She also has cut all her family and old friends out of her life. Anyone who has had dealings with her has found she is demanding and dismissive. That spells DIVA.

Saw some interesting comments from Johnny Weir who was on with Joy Behar. Don’t really care for the View, but I do like Joy sometimes when she actually lets people talk. Johnny appeared at some charity function with Kate. He did not appear impressed with her behavior, but he also pointed out how difficult it is to be in the public eye. I thought he did a nice job of confirming some of the “diva” behavior and yet not bashing her.

Am seeing an ad for DWTS as I type this. CC marketers get better every day!

Has Kate had plastic surgery on her face? Looks like it to me.

(BTW, have no use for her or her ex - they are in the Heidi/Spencer camp, as far as I am concerned - famous for no apparent reason & seem to feel that somehow makes them more important than everyone else)

Yep, I have the DWTS ads. Yuck.

OK she got famous supposedly BECAUSE of her mothering, teaching all 8 of them, this and that but now she’s decided to pursue fame, fortune and celebrity on her own so the kids…oh OK they’ll each have their own nanny while mom indulges herself…oh OK just like every other celebrity’s kid out there. Ah so much for supermotherhood!

I guess another option would be for her to take two full time regular jobs and never see her kids. This way she will be spending less time away for more money.

They made millions from the show and books. The question really is how much is enough?

That’s a good question. How many millions would it cost to raise 8 kids and send them to college?

My sister and her husband are raising five kids on one income. Three more wouldn’t be that bad. Once multiple kids were in college, the EFC should work itself out.

My mother had six siblings and my father had nine siblings. Yeah, it was easier to live on one income then, but all the same no one was in a lucrative business in their families–farmers on one side (during the Great Depression, yet) and a postal worker in the other family.

The only reason think it’s oh-so-impossible to raise a gaggle of kids without a TV contract is that most people choose not to have that many kids. Yeah, maybe with that many children you can’t afford the most luxurious car or the biggest home. Maybe the kids don’t get iPhones for Christmas. Maybe you can’t take off for DisneyWorld. But so what? My mom still smiles and laughs over her memories of the family vacations where everyone stuffed two changes of clothes in a paper bag, piled in the family car (a battered, retired funeral home car), and took off for picnics and camping at the lake.

It’s shameful to train an unblinking video camera on your children’s private lives when they’re incapable of consenting.

I agree wholeheartedly, especially since the editors have an incentive to pick and choose how each child is presented to the public. Yuck. It was sweet when they were babies, I quit watching after that.

^^^I watched Dancing With the Stars tonight for the first time ever. Kate was horrible. The judge said she was stiff and it looked like her partner was pushing a grocery cart around.

She looked none too happy with their comments. She seemed very awkward overall - not just the dancing.

Did anybody else notice that when DWTS host was interviewing couples after their dance in the glass room, she was always right behind the camera with a fake smile on her fake face. She wanted to get as much air time as possible - perhaps since she knew she wouldn’t be around for the long haul based on her dancing skills!!

I noticed a lot of fake or uncomfortable smiling on Kate’s part. Of course, have to admit, I was also observing her more than others.

Since the Op has asked what we think of her new hairdo, I will answer that. I think it is great! She looks hot. She is a beauty. I didn’t even recognize her in the previews.
I’ll go no further about her dancing, or her personal life.

I agree. I liked her hair.

Hmmmmm! It doesn’t look like a lot of love for Kate around here! Ha! I will say that I expect that Kate and Jon really had no idea what they were getting into when they first signed up to be a Reality TV family. They probably were thinking along the lines - diapers -covered, formula - covered, cribs & high chairs & walkers & other paraphenalia - covered, money to pay the bills - covered, the sextuplets babyhood documented - covered. It seemed like a win/win situation and it was for a long time. Those who watched saw the dynamics of the family - with Kate being determined that things should go her way and Jon being more passive, sometimes bored and uninterested or lazy, and sometimes being treated like he was the 9th child. But, it wasn’t until Jon left the family that the real ugly stuff started and the family hit the tabloids along with all that goes with it. If he had stayed, would everyone have so much to criticize?

Regarding Kate & DWTS - she looks gorgeous - love her new hair - she does look totally different - great smile. She was stiff and tentative in her dancing last night, but should improve if she isn’t voted off. She was not the worse dancer, so she has a chance to be around for a few weeks. I’m sure her children are proud of her. I wish her and her children well!
