The new Kate Gosselin

The judges were right - she was walking through her routine. When you do a ballroom type dance, you should be on the balls of your feet. Her heels never left the ground. I think the judges scoring was overly generous - I would have given her a 2!!! She should be voted off this week - but probably won’t. I don’t like the turn DWTS and AI are taking this season. It seems as if they are a popularity contest as to who can get the most people to vote for them and talent isn’t even considered in the equation.

What was with the scoring by the head judge??? Giving Kate a “5” (truly a gift) and then giving Nicole only a “6”? It makes the whole thing look rigged. This will be my first and last season watching DWTS.

^^^Nicole’s low mark was due to the fact that apparently they broke some rules of the show, not anything to do with her talent or the quality of her performance, and the judge said as much. I agree that Kate’s marks were far too generous.

I guess I better vote tonight…or I’ll have no one to blame but myself.

The personalities of this year’s stars has been “off” so far (doesn’t include Buzz, of course). So many whiny, fragile, petulant stars who do nothing but resist the coaching of the pros. Bring back the rodeo guy!

Niecey and Louis seem to have a nice relationship. And Erin and Max look like they should get a room. I think the producers think they have to play up conflicts.

How did Kate dance? I haven’t watched it yet…was she any better or just as awkward as before?!

I saw the recap at the very end of the show. The producers must really despise her - she looked ridiculous and I couldn’t tell what kind of dance style she and her partner were doing. I wondered if it could be one of those apache dances from early 20th-century Paris (probably not, right?) like in the “I Love Lucy” episode.

I don’t think this is the show for me. I saw the very last bit of the Pussycat Doll’s dance and she was wonderful - and then the judges reprimanded her for breaking with the rules of the style of dance. But it doesn’t seem to me as if a lot of the celebrities there (Kate in particular) can even begin to dance to the rules of each style.

Kate was bad. They brought in an acting coach to try to get her to connect with her character (each dance this week was to tell a story), but she just couldn’t pull it off. She looks like she’s wound so tight that she’ll explode at any minute.

She didn’t. She stomped around the stage with a sour look on her face. Simply awful.

Frazzled, I totally agree. It seems like the judges only bring up the rules for the better performing celebs as a means of keeping their scores inline with the others.

I agree. Folks like Steve Wozniak (sp?) and Buzz can at least look like they’re having fun while they’re dancing badly. But to have to look at her “I’m in utter misery” face while she’s dancing horribly is just too much for us to have to endure.

And I agree that she was terribly styled…why did we notice HER belly but not Neicy’s?

First the judges especially Carrie Ann will slam any dancer if the female partners’ feet come off the floor. She is a huge stickler regarding that. Len is a huge stickler regarding technique and Derek knew he broke the rules. He did not stay true to the regs. Derek has done this every season. When Bruno agrees with Len than you know they messed up…bad form for Bruno to give them a 9. It was a great dance, but rules are rules the quick step they are to remain the hold, for someone like Nicole who has an edge due to her dancing abilities shame on her and him! I felt it was almost pompous. It felt as if they were saying we will make top 3 so let’s have fun and SCREW THE RULES because we are already ahead of the game

Second, Kate was horrendous, ROBOTIC would be an insult to robots. Maybe she is guarded because of her life and the press, but she makes me quake in fear that if I said something offensive to her I would get her death glare. I don’t get the quip “I am thinking about making dinner” REALLY? Supposedly you have 3 nannies and a chef…are you wondering what the chef is making? My heart for Tony breaks because he is trying everything. DWTS better give him somebody like Nicole next season…he deserves it!

Third, Buzz is no better than Kate and just as painful to watch. I can’t watch him, but at least he is 80, he can claim his body doesn’t bend and move like Kate’s anymore.

Finally, if you truly watch it people like Niecey, Aidan, Jake, Pam and Erin have no dancing background. The beauty of their dances is that they make you feel that if you too dedicate yourself you can dance.

Off topic, but I am wondering if they are recruiting Florence Henderson (Carol Brady) for their next season. This is the second time this season I have seen her in the crowd and unless she is close to one of the dancers I can’t figure out why she is always there unless she is deciding if she wants to be the next senior citizen on DWTS. Then again she might just like the show and it is a perk, but then that begs the question if she is only attending the show for personal likes wouldn’t they want her on it?

^^^^I thought Nicole and her coach were spectacular from a performance perspective. But I thought their dance was one of the cheesiest I’ve ever seen.

D was a Sailorette in our HS production of *Anything Goes *last year. Not so much cleavage in their sailorette costumes!

Carrie Ann even said I want front row seats when you take it on the road, because it was great to watch, but it wasn’t a quick step.

I am curious to see the next few weeks. The judges will want to keep them on, and I believe that scores will be reflective of fan voting trends.

I bet Buzz will stay because folks like my hubby keep voting for him, and there is a good chance Kate will stay too because people love train wrecks.

‘I don’t think anything about Kate. I have no interest in her whatsoever. In fact I ignore pretty much all reality TV shows.’

Ditto except that I avoid all TV.

They do enforce the rules more for the better dancers. They do that every season. The first rule is that there should be at least attempt at some of the steps of the particular dance. By that standard, Kate and Chad would have been given all zeros. They both just walked around - he just looked a little better doing it. There are ballroom styles where there are lifts - American Smooth allows lifts. They have some hybrid DWTS rules that they use I assume.

There should be no backleading (the follower leading) in the dances either, but every time the woman is the pro, there is backleading. They don’t mark down for that. There should also not be the supporting of another person’s weight - except in lifts - but the pro men support the women lots in their routines.

The no lift rule should be enforced as a safety measure and if there are lifts in dress rehearsal, they should make them take them out before the performance. To so vehemently enforce that rule and overlook pretty much every rule in ballroom dancing is silly.

For Carrie Ann to be the rule bully is pretty funny to as she is not even a ballroom dancer. Her background is in hip hop.

I thought Chelsie was really snotty to Jake. I’m no fan of his from The Bachelor, but he seems like a nice enough guy and seems to be trying his best. I don’t know what her problem is. I used to really like her from her time on SYTYCD, but since she’s been on DWTS, not so much.

And I never thought I’d miss Samantha, but Brooke is just awful as a host or interviewer or whatever she’s supposed to be. She adds nothing to the show.

LOL, NSM, then this is the wrong thread for you!
